About Me

I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. About Me

As an actor, Joshua graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Judith Blazer’s 2005/2007 company of the Artist’s Crossing.
Performance credits include roles in The Trojan Women, Godspell, Burn This, Comedy of Errors, Children of Eden, Othello, Show Boat, Sunday in the Park with George, The Chosen, Sweeney Todd..., The Laramie Project, and Les Miserables to name a few.
As a director, Joshua directed three sold out productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in NC and DC, received rave reviews for his work with Neil LaBute’s Some Girl(s), just completed production for a series on the making of Oklahoma! and is in post-production for the second season of the first ever children’s webseries. Other sporadic credits include Duets for the DC Fringe Festival, a number of independent films and countless readings, workshops and concerts.

About Me

Khalil has had a life filled with music. His musical endeavors began at the age of six and since that time he has built mastery in the areas of piano, organ, drums, and saxophone. He sought formal music education at Elizabeth City University where he attended via a scholarship for his skills in rhythm. It was during this time that he strengthened his skills in percussion such as drums and piano. After matriculating Khalil went on to play for several well acclaimed artist and gospel groups throughout his career. He currently is a Director of Music and chief organist for a local church in the Washington Metro area. He specializes in Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Jazz, and R&B; however can play and train all genres of interest, including classical.

About Me

I am a happy-go-lucky person who loves to perform. I focus on students being practical and passionate about music and theater and have the know-how to teach anyone the skills or just greater confidence in yourself. My goal beyond learning any skill is to show you how to use arts to better your life from any aspect. I teach you to have a more creative life in anything that you do.

I have been most successful in what I do by simply being me and being an engaging and dedicated performer and teacher. I love people and I love learning and growing from them through experience. I enjoy life and truly believe you can do anything you desire to do, no thing is too great or small.

1) increase confidence and social skills through arts
2) basic singing and breathing techniques

About Me

I've been teach Guitar and Bass for about 2 years now. I've recently been tutoring music theory for college level students. I like getting to know my students as I teach them. Not just for the sake of being able to teach you better. Being comfortable just hanging out before, during and, after a lesson makes the learning experience all that much better. I have all my Music major (Classical Guitar) requirements finished and the information is still fresh in my brain. I play many different styles of music but I specialize in Rock or Metal.

About Me

Born in Panama City, Panama, Mariana completed a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory and completed a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy at the Catholic University of America with an emphasis in Latin American Music in 2009. She has sung on the stages of Italy and Spain participating in performances of Die Zauberfl te, L'Elisir d'Amore and La Traviata. Mariana has sung in the DC area with Zarzuela Di Si and the In Series as well as The City Choir of Washington and The Washington Chorus.
As a voice teacher, Mariana has experience teaching students of all ages but mostly children and teenagers. Her approach is simple yet effective, speaking in terms that are easy for each individual student to understand and remember.

About Me

Dr. Jessica P. moved to Chevy Chase/Bethesda area in 2009, having grown up and gone to school in New York and Ohio. She loves the area, and she and her husband are thrilled to be putting down roots in the community. As a performer, Jessica has traveled around the world, but throughout her career teaching has been one of her most important focuses. "As a relative newcomer to the DC area, growing my private studio has been a great way to get involved in the community. My teaching style is individualized, but I always try to include two important things: building a strong basic skill set, and developing creativity."

About Me

I am a graduate of Westminster Choir College where I earned my Master's of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy. While in graduate school, I sang the role of Franca in the musical The Light in the Piazza and I originated the role Agrippina in Nero Artifex, a new opera at Princeton University. I have a Bachelor's of Music from Ithaca College where I sang several opera and musical theatre roles. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to work with top-notch musicians and that I can pass on what I have learned to each of my students!

My training has been primarily in the opera and oratorio field but I enjoy singing music theatre, pop, rock, and sacred music. I have performed with The Princeton Festival, Opera New Jersey, and The Victorian Lyric Opera Company here in Maryland. I currently sing with a professional church choir in Washington, DC and I frequently give recitals.

About Me

I graduated in May 2011 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance, my instrument being piano. My coursework included classes in music theory, history, pedagogy, as well as choral conducting. I have taught students of all ages and levels, focusing not only on music reading and piano technique, but also musicianship. I strongly believe that while you can learn to play notes from a computer program or video, you can only learn how to play music from another human soul.
