I have played the guitar for twenty years and have studied a wide variety of music including jazz, classical, folk, blues and rock. I’m skilled in acoustic, electric and classical styles of the guitar. I have an open mind about music and can appreciate any style or type. I have a firm background on music theory, so I am able to explain what I am teaching. I excelled in all my classes in college, music and Gen Eds, with a GPA over 3.75. I also have experience in teaching guitar or bass to students ranging from the ages of six to sixty six. I enjoy taking what I have learned and passing it on to someone else to experience. I believe this is one way you can leave your mark in music. I believe the experience I have playing in bands, and learning songs with my ability of having ...

They should also have the appropriate books - mel bay note reading and a blank music staff and tab book.

My method focuses on learning scales, chords & arpeggios and then showing the student how to apply them through knowledge of music theory. They will learn how to create music on their own as well as understand the music they listen to. I will also show my students how to play various popular songs and how to improvise. My areas of expertise are in rock, pop, blues, rockabilly, metal, country and jazz. I also teach note reading, fingerstyle and classical guitar.

As far as general guitar technique am able to teach to a advanced level except for heavy metal electric and jazz styles. For any kind of fingerpicking can teach to a advanced level.
As a guitarist in my early years I spent much time reworking my technique and gaining insight in how guitar playing really works. My early struggles gave way to a solid knowledge of the guitar and music.
This was gained through no small part through my High School music teacher, through master classes of Manuel Lopez Ramos and Abel Carlevaro and others.
These master classes helped me in a big way to develop teaching systems and principles that can help anyone to learn guitar easier and more effectively.
You will gain from the knowledge of these world class guitarists and teachers which will help you to play better and more musical.
And from my musical background-of playing hundreds of songs ...

I teach students how to easily learn and move from chord to chord on their guitar quickly. I don't like to waste a lot of time doing the same thing over and over unless that is what a student needs. I have taught so many different types of students that I have developed many tricks and different approaches to learning the guitar that it is easy for me to show a student a different way, if one way isn't working for them. This allows me to quickly assess and switch my method to better navigate the student to success. I encourage lots of hand strumming and short practice session, but often. I'm a fun teacher, and like to motivate students to keep calm, practice, and to remember music is worth their time.
