About Me

My Background in Music:

My inspiration first started when I was seven years old and in second grade. I was pondering if I wanted to dedicate myself to the music field. A substitute piano teacher came in that day and played and my admiration decided me to pursue this ambition for my life work.

I studied and played guitar and auto-harp as a child because of our lack of piano. The guitar was a gift and I played it for years and studied vocal music throughout school.

When I was a young teenager I started playing with a group that I met in a barn and I was thrilled. Many other musicians have been part of my story and as a young person I studied privately with such greats as Michelle Barone Horsefield as well as with with studio musicians such as the Scott Steeleman Studio and John Sayer.

Education:

When I was a little older I started studying at the Community Music School at Capital University in Columbus Ohio. I studied with Joan Hall Huet and enjoyed her style and training as well as Steve Caricciola out of Capitol who played organ and taught me composition. Those are only two of the wonderful teachers with whom I trained.

As I was studying, there came an opportunity for me to study and work with the founding member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. He was Mr. Robert Buchsbaum of Coronet Recording Studio. I came into his studio to make a demo tape and he offered me a job.

He was a fantastic engineer as well as the finest of oboists. We talked music for nine years together. He changed my life in so many countless ways that it would take a book to explain what was brought to me musically at that time.

I continued to play as well as help in the studio wherever and whenever I was needed. I recorded and wrote many original pieces and became copyrighted as well as a member of BMI and ASCAP.

I won the USO talent show in 1985 and was offered the possibility of travel, but I chose to stay in Columbus. I was very blessed to have met and worked with many of the finest professors in the country as they were a part of our Artist-In-Residence Series in the studio.

People such as Rosemary Platt, a professor of Ohio State University, Paul Droste, TBDBITL and retired OSU marching band director. I came to Florida in 2001 and have expanded my musical adventures. I continue to play musically with a few local musicians and write music. I plan to continue to be an active force in the music field as well as teach other people how to be fine musicians.

Credits:

I have been involved within the music industry for many years. My credits include working almost ten years in a classical recording studio of high reputation. I have trained with many fine teachers and have grown to love the music field more and more. My goal is to expand your knowledge into a lifetime love for the music field and not to frustrate you with seemingly impossible tasks.

Children and Adults:

I love children and have worked many years with all age groups as well as with adults. I have the patience and good disposition necessary to help you enjoy the musical experience.

The methods that I use while on a steady course with an accredited system will also include learning how to enjoy music, write music and read music. I have people who are devoted to music and who will have it in their lives always because of my guidance.

A Personal Note

My skills include many years of teaching and helping students become stronger and better equipped to face the best future that they can possibly reach. I have devoted my life to teaching people to read, study, write and perform well.

I have researched the many students that I have trained and I have developed quick and efficient ways to reach needed goals. I have tutored children in reading, writing and comprehension skills as well as contest preparation and test taking.

I have also been involved in many public speaking and performance opportunities. When I was a young child I had the privilege of training in phonics and in eighth grade was reading at a college level.

When my family moved to another community while I was in the ninth grade I was placed in twelfth grade classes and while I did not have the emotional maturity I did have the intellectual ability. I have been concentrating on teaching music for the last few years and have also addressed a need in raising the skill levels in other subjects.

I have also spent time teaching children to prepare for tests. That led me into training others how to develop study skills to help them in lifelong pursuits. I am a writer and love to use stories with a good solid moral point.

I have devoted myself to helping children and young people as well as adults and have many references and connections to my community. I have been published in syndicated newspapers and I am currently a member of the American College of Musicians.

I have been listed in various Who's Who Publications such as Who's Who for Entrepreneurs and have even been listed in European publications. I believe that I have changed lives for the better and this gives me a strong drive and purpose to equip and strengthen others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach online with much success. You can stay in the comfort of your own home and I can teach your student as if I am right there. Give online a try and see if your student continues to grow musically.

My usual goal in a lesson is to promote thought and a natural interest in personal development.

1. I require that the students have the materials needed to get the best possible results I can suggest which ones are the best for the student. Materials are usually of minimal cost unless a student wants to do very serious training.

2. The first few minutes we go over their homework and decide if they need another week or if they are ready to move on. Most of the students can move on so I am going to give that scenario.

3. I then present a concept that will usually take some practice to master.

4. The last section is spent in going over what will be done in their own time.

I'll do my best to make sure that the student understands everything that is being presented to the best of their capacity.

Practice time is age appropriate and I am sensitive to the time constraints that are part of our society today.

I use touch therapy and associations as well as help people overcome stage fright. I also use Bel Canto in vocal training. In guitar I can teach up to early advanced. On piano and vocal I can take children 7 and up male or female. I use positive reinforcement. I have innovative programs that stimulate and rejuvenate.

About Me

Dan was born in Romania in 1981 and started playing violin at the age of 4. He played as a soloist for the first time with a professional orchestra at the age of 10, and won multiple national and international violin competitions while in the National College of Art Ion Vidu. Dan arrived to the United States in 2000 with a full music scholarship. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance, a Professional Violin Performance Certificate and a Master Degree in Music from the prestigious Lynn University Music Conservatory, graduating in 2007.

Dan is now playing violin with some of the best orchestras in Florida: The Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic and Palm Beach Opera.

Dan started teaching in 2006, and ever since, students from his studio have won local concerto competitions, auditions and scholarships at prestigious music schools and festivals, such as the Interlochen Music Festival, in Michigan. Dan will gladly teach violin, viola and music theory students of all ages and levels. Dan also teaches piano students of all ages at the beginning level.

Dan and his wife currently live in Saint Petersburg, Florida with their Yorkie dog, Oliver Twist.

Have you always wanted to learn how to play an instrument, but never knew where to begin? I can help you learn your instrument, and learn how to play the music that you love whether it be flute, piccolo, violin, viola, or cello. I can help you enjoy music.

Having grown up in a musical family with my mother a professional violinist, I have been exposed to the joys of music since childhood. I learned how to play percussion and string instruments from when I was six years old, and later joined the high school band playing flute. I loved playing flute and piccolo so much that I decided to take this as my career and went to Interlochen Arts Academy where I excelled in my performance. I later went to Prague Conservatory and Czech Budweiss Conservatory and played with the Prague Film Orchestra. Even more recently I have been a teacher for the Flutes and Strings classes at Unison World School in Dehradun, India.

As you can see, having great international exposure to music I can teach you how to become more well-rounded in the beauty that is music.

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching varies with the age level of each student. With younger students, imitation is often one of the best methods of learning and I prefer the Suzuki method for students up to age 8, especially with strings. For older children and adults, learning music notation and basic music theory for a full understanding of musical language are more important to get them to the level where they can learn any music that they want to play for fun. For students who wish to excel in their school band, a more practical approach with technique specific warm-ups and exercises seems to be the best in general.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in the living room which includes music stands, sheet music, metronome, and seating for parents/students. No pets. Parking in lot.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide metronome, and tools for minor instrument repair. Students should provide their own music stands and sheet music.

About Me

Lisa is a music educator with over 30 years of experience. She attended the prestigious New Orleans Center for Creative Arts where she studied music theory and performance under Bert Braud and Ellis Marsalis. She studied music and psychology at Loyola University of New Orleans and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. She has resided in Tampa, Florida since 1991 where she has performed in a variety of venues including "One Enchanted Evening" VIP reception and a benefit for Berkeley Preparatory School. Lisa served as an accompanist for Encore Theatre in 1999 working with Greta Aldene and has accompanied instrumentalists at district contest festivals. She has also had the privilege of serving as an adjudicator for the Bayridge District Festival for several years. An active member of Music Teachers National Association since 1998, Lisa is a pianist and composer who also maintains a studio. She has been hired to play the piano for many occasions including weddings, private parties and company parties since 1983. She also has a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and utilized music in her work as a psychotherapist. Lisa has a goal to instill the love of music in all her students through an individualized student-centered approach.

*** Lesson Details ***
I instruct children as well as adults ranging from beginning to advanced levels in the art of playing the piano. I teach various styles of music including standard classical repertoire and popular pieces. Through a creative, fun and individualized approach to teaching, my students also learn ear training, sight reading, music theory, piano technique and music history as it pertains to the pieces they are currently learning. After one month, beginning students can expect to have learned how to play one piece of music of their choosing and one piece of music chosen by me. After a few months of studying with me, they can expect to have gained basic music reading skills.

About Me

Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums.
As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State School Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master€™s degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music.
Nicole now resides in Clearwater, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the drummer for a local original rock band. In this band, Nicole writes songs, sings, plays piano, and drums (not all at the same time). Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

Teaching music students for over 30 years has enriched my life. My relationship with my students is a two-way street. I create a course of study to fit their individual interests and needs and often learn from them as we explore their interest in God's wonderful gift of music!

After teaching elementary music in public schools for 10 years and training university interns, it was a thrill to become a vocal graduate assistant at the University of South Florida where I earned both a B.A.in Music Education and an M.A. in Vocal Performance with Voice, Choral, Music Education and Piano Pedagogy emphasis.

My classical training is also enhanced by participation in Broadway, contemporary, folk, pop music and sacred music styles.

Teaching at various private schools™, including theater school and directing both contemporary praise bands and traditional church choirs has provided enjoyable contrasts for me.

I have adjudicated for the Florida Vocal Association Solo and Ensemble Festivals and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions. Former students are pursuing careers as performers, composers, music teachers and music ministers ..........and singing to their babies!

Piano Study

I provide a variety of instruction: Classical, Traditional and Worship Chords/Chord Chart approach with Improvisation.

Lessons and curriculem are tailored to the students abilities and interests. Traditional note reading and/or chord chart playing, classical or popular music with improvisation skills can be pursued.
However, beginners should understand that there are skills everyone needs to begin with to progress.

I incorporate duet playing to enhance beginner songs and to teach ensemble playing at all levels.
Most of my students pursue piano for their own enjoyment or for ensemble,church and social gatherings. However, because of 2 years of piano study at the University level, I am very comfortable with those who wish to prepare for competition and advanced study.

I prefer to teach students ages 7 & up.
For Younger Students: I offer Music Enrichment Piano lessons with a more play-like approach to music readiness activities; such as movement songs developing steady beat, rhythm awareness, finger dexterity and form.

Vocal Study

Vocal students can concentrate on a single style to study or a mix of Classical, Broadway, Pop, Folk, Traditional Sacred or Contemporary Christian Styles.

We are beautifully and wonderfully made in such a way that certain foundational, physical aspects of singing will help everyone. I teach the foundations for a physiologically correct technique that enhances every style. This has helped all singers, including those who are experiencing discomfort when they sing.

Singing is as natural to me as speaking but I wasn't always this way. That's why I love to help anyone become comfortable or better at expressing themself through singing. Vocal students of all levels, beginning to advanced, are welcome.

Singing is a very individual thing and I approach each student uniquely. I have multiple experiences and styles to draw from.

I prefer to teach lessons to age 11 & up but will work with younger students if they are ready.

Vocal students can receive music reading training if they desire it, but since 30 minutes is a minimum for developing physical foundational techniques and music selections, lessons would need to be 45 minutes or an hour to include vocal sight reading.
I love helping students expand their ability, whatever their starting point. Musicality is even more important than a display of difficult music, so I take time to encourage expressiveness.

Our initial session,
I am interested in learning about each student's personal tastes, and any past experiences and goals. Then we will proceed to explore their instrument, whether it is their own voice or the piano.
A student's goals and resources will influence my choices from a wide variety of curriculum that are beneficial for steady progress. I will collaborate with them to choose musical selections, incorporating their goals and tastes.

Enjoying the ability to express oneself through music is of primary importance. While challenging my students to steadily grow in their capability, their appreciation of compositions and ability to communicate them; I also encourage their feedback to assess what works best for them.

I love helping students expand their ability, whatever their starting point. Musicality is even more important than a display of difficult music, so I take time to encourage expressiveness.

Older students need to be able to focus on developing technique and accept the home practice involved to learn ( and in the case of piano "read" ) and expressively sing/ play their selections.

Adult students are self directed and I accept their self pacing for home practice. But where parents are involved, I discuss a practice plan and encourage it. However, a student should never skip a lesson because they didn't practice. We all need a jump start sometimes.

Materials: I will discuss the need for curriculum with students before purchasing items.
Curriculum is chosen based on the students goals. There is a $2 monthly fee for piano students who will benefit from the sequential music games offered online through my teacher account.
