Music is my eudemonia, as well as, my asylum. I have come to personally know and enamor its therapeutic benefits. It has inspired me to develop personally and academically. On innumerable occasions, when I was privileged with the opportunity to perform, I continuously saw the relief and the elation that the music was bringing to people. As Bob Marley once said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” Consequently, I sought out to make it my life’s goal to use music therapeutically to replenish lives. I aspire to do this by naturally leveraging my adoration for music, expanding my knowledge and experiences in music, and ultimately becoming an education leader/practitioner in music therapy. I graduate from Florida A & M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with a concentration in classical voice. During my undergraduate year I proudly served as the following leadership positions in my 80 plus concert choir as the President, Vice President, soprano section and assistant section leader. I am also a sister of the cherish sisterhood Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity inc. Currently I am a Graduate student at Florida State University aspiring to obtain my masters in music therapy. With my love, dedication and discipline for my profession I am certain that my students will benefit significantly as we build upon their musicianship.

I have taken flute lessons from the flute professor at FSU as well as guitar lessons from Dr. Leo Welch here at FSU. I have given multiple lessons and master classes on both flute and guitar. I have also been a music theory tutor for many students. I have a lot of experience with both giving and receiving lessons, so I have learned many ways to adapt to any situation.
I love laughing and making jokes, which is one of the most important aspects of any teacher. Lessons should be something to look forward to rather than dreading to spend time practicing. I do prefer being more laid back as a teacher, but still know when it's time to get more serious about the work.

I have been instructing students of all ages since graduating from college. Playing professionally in jazz combos, big bands, rock and funk bands, and as a soloist, I am well-versed in all styles of music. I was also a graduate assistant in the area of solfege and ear training while studying jazz trumpet performance at Cleveland State University. I am currently the brass instructor at the Long Lake Camp for the Arts and Mason’s School of Music, and the Graduate jazz trumpet Teaching Assistant at Florida State University, where I give lessons to undergraduate jazz trumpet majors.
I understand that not all students are planning to become professional musicians. It is my belief that it is my job as a music teacher to provide the student with the opportunity to progress to the level they want and the tools needed to do so. I provide the vital information needed to make significant improvements and then it is up to the student to master this information. Lessons not only teach music but also valuable lessons like time management and work ethic which will help in other areas of their life.
