Cindy W. San Jose, CA

About Cindy

Music can inspire creativity and growth; it can evoke tranquility and joy. This was the case for Cindy W. who began playing the piano at the age of ten and within a couple of years studied composers such as Debussy, Liszt, Bach, and Chopin. While only in junior high, she started teaching piano, rapidly gaining teaching and business experience. She held annual recitals giving the students an opportunity to perform for their parents and peers in a public setting.

Cindy studied music with Rachel Perez-Hayes, a graduate from the Juilliard School of Music, New York, and was considered gifted and talented with perfect pitch recognition. Her background in music coupled with a Master'€™s degree in Educational Psychology has enabled her to create unique lesson plans for each ...

Brianna J. Campbell, CA

About Brianna

Music has been a large part of my life since I first started taking piano lessons at the age of six. In fifth grade, I learned to play the flute, and I performed in bands all the way through college. In high school, I also picked up the violin, and enjoyed playing in orchestras as well. I earned my Bachelors degree in Music Education and my California teaching credential from Biola University in Southern California. During that time, I enjoyed playing many other instruments. My primary instruments are the flute, piano, and violin, although I also play (and teach) beginning clarinet, viola, and cello.

In addition to giving private lessons, I also teach school band and orchestra, so I bring the added perspective of a conductor who can help students learn how their part fits in ...

Excellent teacher

Brianna is a very dedicated teacher who makes learning an instrument fun.

Two of my young children learn from Brianna. In both cases she moves at the student's pace while still prodding them to do move through the lessons. This is true even with the violin, where getting a 5 year old child to focus on the instrument and bear through the very challenging learning curve has proven difficult. Brianna's patience, pleasant demeanor and encouragement has served well in making the instrument fun, challenging and sound better every week.

"Sheri, Is a lot of fun to work with. Her positive attitude on life flows from her which then helps others to have the same feelings. She is very encouraging and thoughtful of others needs. Her talents in music are un-measurable." May 31, 2011

Currently I am working on my Master's Degree in Music Education and I especially love to teach drums!

I have many years of experience teaching music and I am extremely patient with those who may need a little extra encouragement or need a creative approach to learning.

Sheri is an awesome teacher!

Sheri is a natural and amazing teacher. She is so positive and encouraging and I always look forward to her lessons. It is evident that she gets a lot of joy out of teaching music and working with students and that enthusiasm transfer to you and makes you enjoy the lessons and motivates you to learn. She is patient and she understand your strengths and weaknesses and breaks down complex pieces such that you can pick it up easily. I was probably her last student for the day and yet she has always been bubbling with energy and enthusiasm every single time I walk in for my lessons.

Samuel C. Santa Clara, CA

About Samuel

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2010 with degrees in History and Music, I spent several years touring and recording with artists on the East Coast, teaching as many as 20 private lessons a week, and learning to play tabla (Indian hand drums) to keep my own musical education alive and moving forward. I have a passion for music of all kinds, and specifically for drums and percussion. As a result of my diverse tastes, I have quite an eclectic performance background. Over the last decade I have performed with rock and metal bands, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, various independent singers and songwriters, musical theater productions, African drum ensembles, and even played tabla for a contemporary dance company back in Virginia.

Recently my girlfriend and I ...

Truly cannot ask for more, amazingly talented teacher w/ positive vibe!

Sam is not only an amazing drummer and drum teacher, but he is one of those people who brings a positive vibe with him everywhere he goes. My son began drum lessons with Sam three years ago at 5 years old, and Sam was flexible with both studio and home lessons. As a school teacher myself, I could see that Sam's teaching style offers a structure customized to each student's learning style, yet also allows for fun through musical exploration. His effortless positive energy and encouragement, easily spills over to his students during lessons, which allows them to reach their maximum potential while fostering a passion and love for drumming! Trust me when I say, this is not an easy feat when teaching a five, six or seven year old, yet Sam made it look easy, and my son couldn't wait until the next lesson! Sam is professional, invested in his students' musical growth and happiness, and is very reliable, you truly cannot ask for more!

About john

I am an experienced instructor focused on beginning students of any age. It is never too late to learn the violin. I use the Shinozaki method as the primary textbook with Suzuki and Miller as supplemental texts. Students will be introduced to the history and structure of the violin and will learn how to read music, accurate intonation, identifying notes by ear, correct posture, proper bow holding, breathing and relaxation techniques. Methods I've developed over the years will help beginners master techniques that normally take years to develop and will allow students to quickly build up confidence and overcome psychological barriers.

Here is a recommendation written for me by a former student:

I am pleased to write a letter recommending Mr. John L. as an excellent violin ...
