About Me

My name is Sami, I am so very passionate about music. I write songs for a wonderful rock band named Blue Helix. When I'm not rocking out with the band I enjoy teaching others how to play guitar, Sing with power and enthusiasm, and stage presence. I have many years experience teaching music, mainly guitar and vocals. The trick i find is to first off teach timing, and teach Pitch. Performance comes with confidence. I have many different methods on how to train my students, but I have an advantage because i have a recording studio at my backside. With that I have all the equipment and lighting needed to set up a fun and realistic environment for a student to develop their music passions. I look forward to teaching you.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons depend on the level of experience the student already has. If we are talking students whom already now how to play guitar , sing or have live stage presence in the bag, then we work on what we feel could be better. That could be playing guitar solos, to singing harmonies, to understanding how to connect and engage your audience. Now BEGINNERS, my favorite...we start off learning the basics..for guitar, how to read Tablature (which is a number guiding system to train you how to play guitar in 30 minutes) We begin on learning how to read tab, then we start learning the songs you want to learn. By doing this we then play to a program called pro Tab that I plug throughout a sound system to give the student a feeling of playing with the actual band, and believe me that's what it will feel like. We have fun while learning. My students get to enjoy the many instruments and varieties of equipment I've obtained in my studio so that they may learn what it is they are passionate about. Lesson guidelines again varies depending on the level of ability of the student.

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***

David C. Lakewood, WA

About Me

Hello!

My name is David, and I am a music teacher of many different subjects. These include guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, recording, music theory, production, composition and film music composition.

All styles, and all ages. Classical, Rock, Alternative, Blues, Jazz, and more!

I have a Masters Degree in music from The University of Melbourne in Australia, as well as having the distinction of a Bachelors Degree in Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. I am one of the 16% of people who attended Cornish that actually graduated from their school.

Many times a student will come to me after having been with another teacher for some time,.. they express to me that the other instructor did not teach them what they wanted to learn, nor did they achieve the result that they wanted. The instructor perhaps had them mired in endless exercises and studies that were great to get you ready to play music, but perhaps was not music in and of itself. I find that when I get right down to the nitty gritty of playing, and show my students a song they love and know, and get them playing their instrument, by the end of the session that they are usually thrilled and excited. In the end it makes them work harder and practice long because THEY ARE PLAYING MUSIC ON THE THEIR INSTRUMENT!!!

Certainly exercises are of paramount importance, but when you can make that connection with a student and help them to relate to the guitar the exercises are ultimately easier to them, and the experience of playing guitar an enjoyable and less alienating task.

Grab your guitar and start today!! Let's get you playing TODAY!!!!

TESTIMONIALS:

"I am very happy with my decision to take lessons with David. In just 2 months I've gone from strumming some chords to understanding picking patterns, learning how to put together an entire song, and expanding my techniques. I am very surprised at how much technical skill I have been able to pick up in such a short period of time"

Marianne Burch, Tacoma

"I'm 46 years old and my only known talent is for overcomplicating things. I've always admired a good guitar player and wanted to learn to play myself--who doesn't?--but felt I didn't have the talent or just "couldn't do it." Then I found David Jaedyn C. and he said, 'Oh yes you can. Commit to 4 lessons up front and you'll see that you can.' I took the leap and sure enough, he had me playing blues riffs in less than one month. All I had to do was listen and do as he instructed me to and it all comes very naturally. There's no stress, just a whole lot of fun! If you're like me and you thought you couldn't play guitar, start with David and just have some fun with it. It's simple. You won't want to put the guitar down again!"

Dan DuBeau, Tacoma

I had been playing guitar for about 5 years and had only been self taught. I found myself completely stuck playing the same chords and not able to play riffs or solos at all. In my first lesson I was playing the blues with slides and hammer ons and pull offs. In a couple of lessons he had me soloing in different keys and playing riffs from guitar gods! He was able to teach me in a couple lessons what took me years trying to teach myself! He makes lessons so much fun because not only are you learning the music theory but he relates it to popular songs that you can practice along with. He also has so much knowledge in other aspects as well. He can teach you about music gear and amps or help you compose your own music. He caters to your style and taste in music and can teach you ANYTHING!

Ashley Allen

I love guitar period, but it's overtly frustrating when you have no idea where to start, or how to play at all. I went through multiple guitar instructors trying to learn how to play and each of them weren't very specific, or didn't hone in on any one thing at a time so you could really start to get it down and process it. Then we happened to find David, and he was really what we were looking for. I started picking up chords like no other, It helped, and is helping tremendously. He goes into depth about the song, letting you comprehend it a little more, and ultimately learning it quicker and better.

Skye Reed, Tacoma WA

I have had 4 different Blues guitar Teacher in the last 6 months, getting nowhere as far as really playing some Blues until I ran across David. The other teachers just wanted me to learn the pentatonic scales, Major and Minor. That took a lot of boring weeks and I am sure I will need to know those scales but I just wanted someone to show / teach me Blues chords, related to Blues songs and the timing to the chord changes so I could start playing some kind of Blues. I have had 6 one hour lessons so far with David and I am playing the Blues. The first 4 hours Dave showed me a E, A, B7 blues chord progression with some step up and step down notes. The 2nd 2 hours Dave showed me a A, D9, A7,E9 Blues chords and Blues timing with slides.

I take one hour Lessons every Thursday and in 6 hours I am playing the Blues. I picked up the guitar about 6 months ago, started teaching myself and not really getting anywhere. I am not a fast learner, about average in learning something new. Now I set a home Learning my guitar and polishing the Blues songs that David has taught me, starting to get FUN.

Les Fairley Tacoma, Wa.

Working with David has made me focus on areas of my chops that needed fine tuning. He provides the basic exercises and tools that, when practiced enough in a zen-like manner, clarifies your understanding of movement on the fret board, and makes you sound a bit more professional. Questions regarding speed, theory, notation, composition, and even string size, are ready for answer with David, which is what keeps me working with him. From begining, to intermediate, to professional levels, if you're looking to improve your chops, Dave's your guy.

Frank Lorenzo, Seattle WA

I had tried many different instructors and had become very frustrated with trying to learn guitar. Within one lesson David had me playing ACDC and RUSH! David just has a way of explaining things so that they make sense and doesn't waste any time getting right down to the nuts and bolts of guitar. A lot of other instructors spend alot of time getting you 'ready' to play guitar, but with David we got down to playing guitar right away!

About Me

I have been teaching voice and music lessons for several years now to a wide range and variety of students. I have successfully helped individuals learn how to sing, speak, act, write songs, and play the piano. Some students come to me to build their confidence or skills. Other students come to me just to have a really great time. All my students grow from their experiences learning music with me. I use a variety of methods and it all depends on what you, as a student, are needing from your lessons.

My background is diverse. I have written and recorded dozens of musical albums over the last decade. I often perform for music and theater events in Seattle and Washington. I have a bachelor of science in contemporary vocal performance and a master of arts in information and learning technologies (educational psychology and online learning). I am very involved in the theater industry within Seattle and direct productions from time to time.

I work out of my apartment close to Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington. I can also arrange online lessons. I am, however, not mobile.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!

Christopher M. Seattle, WA

About Me

Check out my website at 206TUTORING.COM! Group and individual lessons in prep, academic tutoring, piano lessons, etc.

Hello! My name is Chris. I'm a private tutor and piano teacher in and around Seattle. I have a terrific time learning about the things I enjoy in life. I would like to share this kind of fun with you or your son or daughter!

Piano lessons and tutoring. Reading, writing, math, test prep, etc. Affordable, fun, professional, effective.

TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS

Academics: B.A. from Columbia, 2370 SAT (800 Math, 800 Reading, 770 Writing), 1590 GRE (800 Verbal, 790 Math), seven years' tutoring experience, all ages, almost all abilities.

Piano: repertoire from Beethoven to Chopin to Ravel to Mussorgsky, experience as a symphony and opera critic in college, comprehensive knowledge of classical music and music theory, 15 years' experience playing, all ages, beginner to strong-intermediate abilities.

PHILOSOPHY

Academics: I tutor because I want to work against the worst aspects of school, and embody the best ones. I tutor to make school more worthwhile and more fun for my students. I tutor to relieve anxiety and frustration and stress. I tutor to help students cultivate their sense of curiosity. I'll raise your or your kid's grades by putting school in the right context, and giving them the skills to deal with it, emotionally and intellectually.

Piano: My lessons are fun. I love music, and I can help you love it too! I want to teach you how to play what you want to play, how you want to play it, and to that end I promote a relaxed atmosphere while also gently emphasizing technical skills to bring out your musicality. This doesn't mean you won't learn --‚” quite the contrary! --‚” it means that you'll be put in a better mindset to learn, since you'll have a great time coming to lessons and you'll want to practice. I can motivate you to discover what you like most about music and enjoy the gift of musicianship well into adulthood.

MORE SPECIFICS

Reading and writing: Everyone needs language skills. With the rise of the Internet, the increasing difficulty and subjectivity of college admissions, and the competition for scarce jobs hinging on resumes, interviews, and communication skills, a proficiency in reading and writing is more critical than ever before. I've written for, and been paid by, several different websites on topics ranging from modern TV to old literature and card games. I was an English literature student at Columbia. I read and write compulsively. I tutored writing in 2007 to students ages 9 to 18, and was a content editor and proofreader for a boutique educational-software firm in 2007, 2008, and 2011-2012.

Math: Nearly every math class could be aced by a majority of students, but math is poorly taught. I can help by teaching conceptually. In high school, I was three years ahead in math, finishing AP Calculus AB as a sophomore, AP Statistics as a junior, and AP Calculus BC as a senior. I scored a 5 on each of those AP tests. I played poker (a math-based game) professionally from 2010 to 2011.

Test prep: Test-prep is one of the easiest and cheapest investments you can make. My SAT score was 800 in Math, 800 in Reading, and 770 in Writing. My GRE scores were 800 in Verbal and 790 in Math. I got 5's on the AP US History, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and Statistics tests, and 4's on the English Language and Composition and European History tests. As a gamer, I'™m well-versed in the 'strategic' aspect of test-taking.

---

It's important to me that my lessons remain affordable to maintain the kind of diversity and plurality of experience in my students that makes education worthwhile.. For music or academic tutoring, my rate is well below the industry standard at expensive aggregators.

If you're interested in my services for any of these subjects, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Best, CML

Kay E. Seattle, WA

About Me

I fell in love with music at a very young age. Perhaps occurring while seated in the very back of my moms Datsun 510 station wagon during a mildly warm and smoggy Los Angeles afternoon. While my mom ran a quick errand, I vividly remember being consumed by a radio pop tune left on for us kids to enjoy. It was during this moment that I recall consciously thinking - "I want to do that". Whatever "that" was remained to be seen....

Despite "wanting to do that", I wasn't taken serious when my mom arrived back in the car. Arriving to a son yelling "I wanna do that", "make it louder", I wanna do that". She laughed. This while probably reflecting back on those other occasions in which I insisted on being a "firetruck". Yup, not a fireman....

Only years later after realizing that the life of a firetruck is not only fictitious but high risk, a serious listener-ship and dedication to music took root. As my curiosity grew, I was compelled to explore musics qualities and structure. It was about this time that I viewed music as a sort of esoteric universal language that had certain historic rules. Adding, rules I thought that should be learned in maybe breaking later. At least this was the logic of the time.

Indeed as a kid, I was simply blown away as to how music showcases almost endless stimulating possibilities. This in terms of structure, different genres, discordance, harmony, tamber, melody and rhythm. For it would be these very profound attributes noticed back then that sustain me today.

Notwithstanding, as a young aspiring musician, "universal" would be last words out of an poor observers mouth. This especially when describing my several attempts in playing speed metal on my sisters viola. It would be these sort of behaviors that summoned my father to buy his resourceful son a electric guitar and amp. Not forgetting to mention, a amp that picked up crystal clear radio waves.... The rest was history. A history plagued with disturbing reverberations along my parents bedroom walls and garage doors. This while placing a heavy burden on their pocket books in begging for new musical gear.

I graduated from Berklee college of music in 2002. There, I studied Jazz guitar, music composition, theory and music business. In summing up my music post graduation past: I taught at K-12 schools and academy's, performed with various ensembles, did lots of solo performing, wrote and recorded in different projects, had been employed for studio work as well as owning and operating a guitar retail/academy business.

I hope to do much more! This while sharing with you in the process. Feel free to contact me to open up the conversation further. Thank you for viewing this.
