Biography: Teaching Experience and Philosophy

Morgan began teaching piano 7 years ago and has
since then taught a number of students ranging from very young
beginners to adult beginners and intermediate students. Although she
regularly teaches in the classical tradition, Morgan is passionate
about finding what excites each student and is committed to connecting
each student with music that will inspire them, help them grow, and add
joy to their lives.

it is very accessible to anyone with the desire and the time to
practice and study it. Since each individual is different and we all
like different kinds of music, I really like to find out what kind of
music makes one excited about the learning process and help the student
set their own goals. 'Learning' and 'fun' are two words that can and

I have taught piano and music theory privately in the Greensboro/High Point area for the past 21 years. I have taught students from age 5 through adults, from beginners to intermediate and advanced students. I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds and have taught public, private, and homeschool students. I’ve had many students through the years that have gone on to pursue music degrees and careers.

For the past seven years, I have been the Music Director/Accompanist at a church in Jamestown, NC. I lead worship and accompany the praise team, choir, soloists, small ensembles, and congregational singing.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music , Cum Laude, in 1988 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I studied with Paul Stewart. In 1991, I earned a Master of Business Administration, also from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Pianist and singer Phillip F. started learning to play the piano at age 6. Growing up he competed and placed highly in many competitions including playing with the Symphony Orchestra in his home town of Spartanburg, SC after winning it's concerto competition at the age of 17. In college he took piano from Dr. Charles Fugo at the University of South Carolina and also started taking voice lessons from Tonya Currier and Walter Cuttino. While still in college he worked with The South Carolina Opera company for a season as a member of the ensemble and as Chorus Master.
Since college, he has worked with different theater and opera companies as a lead actor and as a musician.
He has many years of teaching experience with piano at all experience levels.

Megan is a soprano described as being “blessed with a powerful coloratura and lovely vibrato.” In addition to teaching voice lessons, Megan has performed concert and operatic roles all over the US and Europe to include Notre Dame Cathedral and the Palace of Versailles and is quickly becoming a sought after soprano for lyric coloratura roles.

Megan has gained quite a following as a vocal teacher and credits her technique to her current voice teacher, Glenn Siebert, where she studies with him at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition to her studies at UNCSA, where she has received numerous vocal scholarships, Megan also holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from East Tennessee State University. Megan believes possessing a firm understanding of the anatomy of the human body and voice enables her to better use her instrument and thus incorporate that knowledge into her teaching.
