About Melissa

I am dedicated to helping you to feel comfortable singing, performing and even auditioning. Teaching healthy techniques to free up your voice and give you the confidence to sing what you want. I have recently finished a Master's of Music degree from Brigham Young University (BYU) in vocal performance. I have taught private and group voice lessons since 2011, and have developed effective ways of communicating to students. I am trained to help students get to know their voices and how to use them effectively. I have performed major operatic roles for BYU, and am currently performing with the Utah Opera Chorus in Salt Lake City. I have performed in many venues and in front of hundreds of people. My background in performance allows me to teach my students necessary techniques to conquer

Fantastic teacher!

Melissa is wonderful! I was nervous to take lessons, and she made me feel comfortable. She is very friendly and very complimentary of what I am doing well, even if I'm doing other things poorly. I would recommend her to anyone, especially those who are shy about getting started.

Great Teacher! :)

Melissa is an amazing voice teacher! She always created a comfortable environment that we could learn about our individual voices in. She always told me exactly what I needed to improve on in a way that wasn't demeaning, but encouraging! I also attended an opera that she was in, and she was a great actress and singer! I really enjoyed her class and benefited a lot from it.

Great Teacher!

I have nothing but good things to say about Melissa James. She is a very talented teacher who can take a student of any skill level and let them know what they can work on to improve. I really enjoyed the semester class that I took from her.
Katie D. Provo, UT

About Katie

At just 6 months old my mom discovered me humming “Silent Night”. By age 2, I would sit in the bathroom, holding aloft a Reader’s Digest from which I would “read” aloud, belting gibberish at the top of my lungs. Needless to say, my mother quickly enrolled me in the children’s performing group “Sunshine Generation”, since then its been 23 years of singing, dancing, acting, playing piano, playing guitar and playing the ukulele non-stop. I love music and I love teaching! I have been studying the subject for decades now, two and half to be exact. First, in private lessons with wonderful teachers, then in Junior High, and High School. Then I entered the realms of college at Citrus, Riverside City College and my current educating grounds, Brigham Young University(Commercial Music Major). I ...

Mr.

Years ago I majored in guitar at USC, and I taught it for years as well travelled around the world performing. I am particular with my daughter's teachers. Katie is great. She's knowledgeable, relates to my daughter well, and she sounds great, which is why we picked her in the first place!

About Chris

I am first and foremost a cello teacher, but I have a very diverse background. I have played in five jazz ensembles, eight orchestras, and a few bands here and there. I've attended three universities and have learned from many different teachers and teaching styles. In addition to the cello, I play the piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums and double bass proficiently. I've been teaching on and off for the last eight years, and have come to love teaching lessons 1-on-1. I first attended USF studying cello performance, then BYU-Idaho studying cello performance. I am currently at BYU in Provo studying commercial music.

Jessica S. Provo, UT

About Jessica

I graduated from Ball State University in 2010 with my Bachelors in Music. I have been giving lessons for 10 years now. I have been rebuilding my studio since I moved across the United States. I have studied privately under Dr. Julia Mattern (Ball State), Dr. Leslie Maaser (Wright State), Dr. Mihoko Watanabe (Ball State) and Mary Richards (UVU). Each professor has had their own style and techniques for teaching music and has given me a very broad range of tools to use in teaching music. I have performed and participated in a variety of master classes offered in the Mid-west (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan) performing for, but not all inclusive, Dr. Sandra Seefield (Miami of Ohio), Dr. Amy Porter (University of Michigan), and studying flute body mapping with Dr. Lea Pearson (Ohio University). Rachel P. Pleasant Grove, UT

About Rachel

I just graduated from BYU in graphic design, but I taught piano lessons in high school and really miss doing it. I would love to get back into teaching music. I have played the piano for more than 12 years and have been involved in school choirs including the PGHS Chamber Choir and BYU Women's Chorus. Music is one of my greatest passions. It has brought such great power to my life and I know it can bless the lives of so many people. My life has been changed through the power of music, and I love teaching people how music can become a refuge for them in their lives.
