It is with great pleasure and with no reservations whatsoever, that I can recommend Luba as a piano teacher for both children and adults. Although her curricula vitae speaks for itself in terms of her qualifications and experience, it is the personal qualities of a teacher that are of the utmost importance in developing a student/teacher relationship that brings out the fullest potential and desire to learn of the student. Luba's warm and kind demeanor belies her exacting requirements of her students. As a pianist who has attended Luba’s student recitals, I am always impressed to see how well-prepared and confidently they perform. Even the beginners play with beautiful phrasing and musicality. One can tell they have studied with a teacher who has worked hard to impart a strong sense of organic expression that music, performed with care and understanding, can evoke. As a concert pianist, Luba understands well the difficulties, both physically and psychologically of performance and is most supportive of the goals of her students. She is also interesting and caring and uses her sense of humour to entice her students to keep working through the difficult times, and keep coming back for lessons.

"Mrs. Luba" has come to be one of the most positive role models in our daughter's life. Over the last two years, Luba has instilled in our daughter (now aged 8) a deep appreciation and love for music and an understanding of the importance of setting goals.

In addition to her obvious rich musical knowledge, Luba is enthusiastic, caring, warm and understands how to teach. She has worked with my daughter on troublesome topics and knows when and how to challenge her. She makes each and every lesson fun while creating a real sense of accomplishment. Rather than simply plow through songs, Luba also works with her on piano technique and music fundamentals that will hasten her development, particularly as she advances. Finally, Luba is always extremely accommodating and cognizant of our hectic schedule. Our daughter recently scored "Outstanding" in the 2014 Music Educators Association Annual Audition, thanks in no small measure to Luba.

We are absolutely thrilled to have found Luba for our daughter's piano instruction and hope to continue our long relationship together.

I started taking lessons with Luba when I was 7 years old, and stayed with her for over 10 years (until I left for college). Now, despite no longer taking piano lessons, I still find great enjoyment in playing piano, and I attribute my love and knowledge of music to Luba. Luba's piano lessons were truly invaluable. She believes in a holistic approach, and understands that it is important for a student to be able to tackle a piece both technically and emotionally. She patiently goes over music theory, delving into the whys and hows of composition, helping her students understand the piece technically. Her explanations and demonstrations on the techniques with which to play a piece were clear and informative, and with practice I found my technical skills improving substantially. However, unlike many other musicians I've met who have mastered technique but failed to apply emotion, Luba ensures that a student is also able to connect with the music. She encouraged me when I chose to learn pieces I liked, and guided me when I struggled to emotionally connect with certain composers. She also taught me the value of practicing (which many children dislike doing, myself included at the time), and gave advice on how to actually practice and improve. With Luba, I consistently received a grade of "Outstanding" (the highest grade level) at the Music Educators Association's annual audition, and placed in numerous piano competitions around the state. I went from barely having any knowledge of music and piano to being able to both learn and sight read complex pieces. It's so satisfying for your efforts to pay off and to finally reach a level where you can pick any piece and know that you have the skills to learn it and play it well. Without Luba, I would not have reached such a mastery of piano and I am extremely grateful for all of her help over the years. Luba is a fantastic piano teacher and any student would be lucky to take lessons with her!

Jeff is an outstanding teacher.

I started taking guitar lessons with him since November 2012, for more than 2 years now. I was an absolute beginner with the guitar, and Jeff taught me the basics of the guitar amazingly and helped me build a strong guitar core. Jeff lets you stay a few extra minutes after the class ends, if you are "in the zone" or if you are just finishing up the lesson. He also gives great advice on the type of guitar you would be best off buying. Jeff also tells you when you need to change the strings and gives advice on fixing up the guitar should it have a problem. Also, Jeff teaches you any song you want. The genre doesn't matter - Jeff will help you master any song you wish to learn. One of the most important thing about Jeff is that he is always looking to find ways to make playing guitar easier and make it sound better. He gives little tips that greatly help you, in both playing chords or songs. He is also very patient and will always answer your questions, so don't be afraid to ask anything. Jeff also supplements his lessons with the Hal Leonard book, to help you learn how to read and play written music and he also explains what all the symbols mean.

I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone who wants to learn the guitar as he goes to great lengths to help his students in any way possible.

I am 38 years old and I had started to try to learn guitar on my own for a few months before I started taking lessons with Jeff. I had gotten frustrated with just using a book and the internet and was very impressed when I met Jeff. He took the time to get to know what I wanted to learn and how. He always listens to me and tailors our sessions to what is best. He can actually see the things that he knows I will struggle with and will give the advance "pep talk" to me to not get discouraged when I try to practice. He takes the time to watch me play very closely so that he can give me advice on how to better my hand positioning and finger movements (and I need that!).

And that's just Jeff's interaction with me. In addition to that, he is a great musician. He can hear everything and can write down the chords of a song he never before in only a few minutes. He can play almost anything just by ear. He also knows music theory and was able to help answer my questions in that area. He also guided me towards some theory and scale books since I showed extra interest in that.

In terms of personality, Jeff is very patient and kind. He cares about what he does and he cares about his students. He knows what it's like to face the challenges of learning an instrument. He was even gracious enough to spend his time helping me to pick out my first electric guitar (I had been using just an acoustic). In additional to that, he is ALWAYS on time for lessons and spends that extra few minutes when he can.

I would highly recommend Jeff for guitar lessons!

If you are looking for the best guitar teacher, I recommend Jeff. He teaches music with precision. Jeff is patient, and makes sure you get all the notes correct. He is eager to teach new songs, even if they aren't in the book. Jeff also knows the best accessories for the guitar (strap, tuner, etc.) and where you can find them. He also gives the option of coming to your home, which is convenient. Jeff teaches different genres of music, like blues, folk, classical, and jazz. At the end of class, he plays games with you, like guess the note. He has a vast knowledge in music; he will tell you what the symbols on the page mean. Jeff also helps you learn the chords, which are hard. He is truly an awesome teacher!- Ashwin

Great Teacher

Vince has shown patience and professionalism since the first day I started.
He answers questions fully and allow the lessons to flow at a pace that works for me.
His lessons stay on point and we don't proceed unless I have a grasp of the technique or principle.
I recommend him for prospective students of all ages.

About Carla

Music is my LIFE!

After 24 years of teaching at music camps, music stores, 3 colleges and my home, I completely understand that the lessons are all about YOU, the student: what you want to learn, taught to you in a way that works for your brain and personality.

And if you don't know exactly what you want to learn, that's OK. We can figure that out together as we go along learning the basics.

I help students learn to play songs by artists they like.

I also help students write songs, or put chords to their existing lyrics.

For those who are interested, I teach note-reading (not required) and theory (not required) and ear training (not required).

The lessons are always tailored towards your (the student's) goals.

I also teach classical and fingerstyle ...

It has been great having Carla as my guitar teacher. Although I have taken lessons from two other teachers, I have found Carla's teaching methodology to be the best as she teaches you those most important basics that sometimes get passed over by other teachers.
As I am an adult student, life sometimes gets in the way of my practicing, but Carla is understanding of this and consistently provides that ever important encouragement and positive reinforcement for whatever progress I have made.
Aside from her musical talents, Carla is very personable, down to earth, with an excellent sense of humor that she incorporates in her teaching style.
I highly recommend Carla as a teacher.

Jimmy is the best vocal teacher around. I call him my vocal coach because his teaching is more like coaching. He allows you to develop at your own pace. He does not rush you. His patience and diligence to help you develop your abilities as a singer demonstrates how much he cares for you to be your very best in a short period of time. His recording studio is state of the art in that you feel you are a professional singer recording your music. He is the best out there!

I've had lessons with Jimmy for a year. I didn't talk with him as much during our lessons in the beginning but soon, I was able to laugh and really start talking with him. As a teacher, Jimmy makes sure that you're comfortable learning with him from day 1. He slowly eases into the learning of music theory and how the guitar works. He makes sure that you stay interested while learning what's necessary about music. You can tell that he has a enormous passion for music, that he's even made mine evolve to the point where not only am I learning how to play the guitar, but singing as well! Having learned from him, I was able to stay relaxed and comfortable. He makes sure to understand the way you learn and uses it to help drive your passion to the right direction. Learning from him was one of the best choices I've made. And choosing him as your teacher will be one of the greatest experiences you'll have!

My 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons with Jimmy for about six months. She has learned a lot about the guitar in general, as well as music as a whole, and I love to hear her strumming away in her bedroom. Jimmy is a patient and kind teacher, he's very good with kids and my daughter looks forward to her lessons with him all week. I am astounded by how much she's learned in just six short months.
