Ryan B. Brooklyn, NY

To learn how to play the drums is not just learning how to play a beat or a groove, maybe even a song or a solo. Its learning self discipline and self sacrifice. Its learning how to breathe, how to become calm, and let go. It’s learning how your body was naturally designed to move. Its learning how to put all of yourself into something. It’s learning that the best things are learned slowly and mindfully. It’s learning that your mind and body are malleable clay, and you are the sculptor. And most importantly it’s learning that you are a powerful co-creator of your life and your destiny, and that whatever you dedicate yourself to, the universe will gladly remove all the seemingly impossible obstacles that stand in your way.

About Ryan

Music is more than my hobby, or my career, it is my life. I have had the opportunity to work with some great innovative drummers and musicians, and am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge of music with others. I am a very laid back person, but I have a lot of passion for music and drumming. I graduated Berklee College of Music as a drum set performance major in 2009 and I have been playing drums for the last 16 years. I am very excited to continue teaching and guide students into finding the unique artist within themselves.

About Peter

Hey there! I'm originally from Salzburg, Austria. I have been playing drums for over 20 years (teaching for about 8 years) and am currently playing professionally around the NYC area.
I graduated from the A.Bruckner University in Austria in 2006 with a degree in jazz performance & didactic studies w/ great drummer and composer Doug Hammond and later Jeff Boudreaux. Other drummers I've been studying over the years include Greg Hutchinson, Jonathan Blake, Jim Black and many more...
After one year of master studies I decided to move to New York City in 2010. Having been established in Europe (I toured in over 20 countries) I sought new challenges; plus the big apple had always had a very high attraction to me. In NYC I founded my own group "Wayfarers" that I ...

Professional and competent...

I am a fellow musician, a piano/keyboard player. I first played with Rafael at jam sessions, where we met up several times before getting together privaetly for rehearsing and recording. Rafael is an easy going person who plays both comfortably and with conviction behind the drums. Literate in music notation, specializing in rhythms and patterns, Rafael plays many grooves from Jazz, Rock and Funk to Cumbia, Salsa and Brazillian rhythms for a nice, eclectic mix. Whether improvising or playing more in a tradition, exploring musical territory is a pleasure with Rafael, students can only benefit from his knowledge and experience. Enjoy the journey...

I am very glad that I found Fabian to teach me guitar. I was very nervous at first, because it is my first time learning, but I was extremely lucky to select Fabian. He is so patient and understanding, and explains everything so well. He is also fun, and brings ease and comfort to the lesson. He goes above and beyond. I look forward to our Monday lessons together. I highly recommend him.

Fabian is a great teacher, he helped me learn how to play acoustic guitar and helped me with my music theory. He is really patient and understanding. I would definitely recommend him to other students. He also has a very nice and private study space.

Rob was an awesome teacher and even better guy. The lesson environment was comfortable, but always focused and professional. He's clearly a hugely talented musician and has a ton to offer in the way of teaching; perhaps more importantly though, his love of music inspires the student to practice and learn. Very highly recommended.

My son Jacob has taken drum lessons with Peter for several years. Peter has continuously challenged Jacob with difficult lessons and general rudiments while also keeping him excited and interested in the pieces. Jacob comes home motivated to independently practice and eager for every next session. Jacob is active with his high school band, pep band and jazz band. Jacob has now twice qualified for Concert Band Snare with the Massachusetts Music Educators Central Districts which we can attest is due to the great instruction from Peter.
