Hi everyone! My name is Anjin, and I have been teaching piano and voice for six years. I recently completed my Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), and I am currently working towards a Professional Studies degree in Opera at CIM. I have studied piano intensively for twenty years, and I specialize in the Taubman Technique, which is a method of playing that eliminates technical difficulties so that one can focus primarily on music making. I also use this method for retraining piano players who are injured from repetitive stress syndrome.
One of my main goals in teaching is to build up my students’ knowledge and confidence so that they can come to a point where they make their own informed musical decisions. This comes from the careful and individualized nurturing of each student’s needs during the lesson times, along with a healthy dose of encouragement and constructive criticism. Additionally, this is aided by instruction on the most healthy, natural techniques possible for both voice and piano. This enables the student to focus on his musical creativity, which I believe to be the most important and fun part about making music!
My vocal experience includes over 10 leading soprano roles in operas in the past four years. I have studied under Metropolitan Opera sopranos Judith Haddon and Jane Eaglen, as well as Dr. Mary Schiller, Vinson Cole, and the famed coach George Darden.
As for piano, I took lessons for 20 years and studied under Yoriko Fileke, Robert Durso, Victoria Squicciarini, and Edna Golandsky. I performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 14 with an orchestra, and won various competitions.

I began singing when I was seven in a school choir. After that, I joined a boy choir in Florida that allowed me to travel all over the United States and Europe, exposing me to many different genres of music. When I entered college, I decided to start training as an opera singer. Since then, I have gained a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Theater Arts from the University of Miami (FL) and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. I have been fortunate to perform extensively and have become passionate about performing. Having recently graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Music, I am dedicated to building a studio in the Cleveland area.
Piano, Singing, Music Performance, Music Theory, Organ
I have love and a great passion for music. I have been a musician for over 30 years, I have been a private instructor in piano, organ and voice for 10 years. I have trained and arranged music for several choirs and musicians. I have been music administrator for the church I attend for 12 years. I have instructed children's music classes at The Cleveland Clinic Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. I have toured with choirs, soloist, and musicians in the United States and Canada. I play for weddings and am currently on staff as a musician at a Funeral Home.
I am a graduate of Evans Academy of Music in Buffalo, New York. I have studied music at Cuyahoga Community College.
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting
I am recent graduate of Music Composition and Theory from Antioch College, and I am a veteran of many bands, having performed in some of the largest venues around the country.
I favor a 'learning through experience' instruction style where my students can gain an in-depth understanding of music through the practice of their instrument. My students will quickly and simply learn the essentials of music theory, an understanding of what musical concepts are right for each situation and why, and the ability to compose and improvise musically while they are gaining the technical abilities and skills to flawlessly perform on their instrument.

Brian has strong and diverse musical experiences to share as a teacher of piano beginning to intermediate), bass (all levels) and guitar (beginning to intermediate). He has also worked successfully as musical director, studio/touring musician, arranger and piano technician. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Brian is now based out of North Olmsted, OH.
As a teacher, Brian has taught privately for over ten years. Many of his students have gone on to forge their own successful, musically inspired careers. His local arts and charitable affiliations in Northeast Ohio are extensive. In September, 2008 he affiliated his bass instruction studios with Royalton Music Center (North Royalton, OH)
and Studio 42 (Brunswick, OH). Through his work with the "Moss Stanley Trio" as "Cats On Holiday" Brian has provided extensive, "approachable" musical performance workshops for the Cleveland Metroparks and dozens of schools and libraries throughout NE Ohio. Not given to musical prejudgment, he instills confidence in his students as they prepare to take the stage, whether it is Severance Hall or the American Legion Hall.
As a recording artist, touring musician and perfomer, Brian has backed such legendary and diverse entertainers as American jazz greats Lionel Hampton and Doc Severson ("The Tonight Show"), children's programming pioneer Sheri Lewis (& Lamb Chop), Actor McLean Stevenson (M*A*S*H). He has performed extensively in Asia and the Caribbean. His studio bass, vocals and narrative can be heard on numerous CDs, most recently for Cleveland's own Cats On Holiday ("Workin' Man", COHTONE Records, 2007). Brian works in a scalable performance format with the Nitebridge Entertainment Group and is a first call bassist for regional performance and session work.
Brian's training began at age 3 with 18* woofer speaker and Ella Fitzgerald record. At age 9, he began his formal training on string bass in a progressive public school program in Prince William County, VA. He was fortunate to have excellent, dedicated teachers who brought out the best, including two years of private piano instruction. He taught himself bass guitar and at age 15 was selected to perform for the President as part of the American Bicentennial. With guidance from band director Roger Meyer, he co-arranged his first work for jazz orchestra at 17 and was tapped to perform for two seasons as a
bassist/vocalist for Kings Dominion (a Paramount corporation) theme park. He also interned as a production assistant and stagehand for the summer concert series. He continued his study of bass at ACU in Abilene, TX. Brian commuted to Denton, TX periodically for private instruction on upright bass with Master Teacher Dave Stone (Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand). Brian was a
member of the San Angelo (TX) Symphony and the Abilene Philharmonic. He is dedicated to a lifelong study of music theory, arranging and instrumental performance.
In teaching situations, Brian is noted for his patience, resourcefulness, thoroughness and his innate sense of approach to convey ideas. In the studio, he is appreciated for his relaxed and professional demeanor. His ability to balance creatively rhythmic lines with his one take, on the mark sight reading keeps him in demand.

I am a Cleveland native who knows first hand what awesome impact music can make. I started singing at two with my dad. I attended Rainey Institute and then got accepted to Cleveland School of the Arts, where I majored in vocal music and minored in drama. For the last 15 years, I have had the honor of exploring the world of music with pre-k to adult students. I have enjoyed creating arts curriculum for schools and summer camp programs. I am a living witness that the world of MUSIC can change a life. I look forward to sharing this world with future students and creating opportunities through music for them to SHINE!
