Hello! My name is Rafe (rhymes with safe) and I'm a drummer and drum teacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

My wife, two teenagers and two dogs and I have lived in Murfreesboro since 2006. Prior to that I lived in Nashville after moving here from Atlanta in 2001.

I come from a long line of singer/songwriters and working musicians. I've been playing drums and percussion since elementary school. My first real drum hero was Peter Criss of KISS!

During and after high school I developed the reading and coordination skills to move from marching and orchestral percussion into drumset playing. Along the way I've had the good fortune of knowing and being mentored by some very worthy and accomplished teachers, most notably Jack Dukes of Atlanta, GA who was an early graduate of Musician's Institute and himself a protege of the great Joe Porcaro.

I have sung all over the world, as a soloist with a mission’s organization The New America Singers. We sang in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Russia and Germany, with our largest audience being over 6,000 people. I was also a missionary in Germany for a year, getting to use my musical abilities to spread the gospel by putting on concerts, directing a German Children’s musical, vocal coaching, and loved every moment. I had some vocal health issues when I was younger, but thankfully I had an incredible teacher who not only helped me fix them but also taught me how to help others. Steve here. For years, as a professional guitar player and session player based out of Nashville, I’ve been on the road in
the bands of major country artists (see attached Bio). I’m currently staying pretty busy performing with Flying Island Entertainments Gwen Sebastian, from the hit TV Show "The Voice", & MCA country recording artist, David Lee Murphy, as well as playing with Hell's Bell's—the Number 1 AC/DC Tribute Band in the Nation.

However, I’m also a songwriter & Guitar/Mandolin/Bass Instructor. Since I play & teach in so many styles, I have written songs in many
genres, including country, folk, Americana, western swing, and even metal.

I have my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, emphasis on horn playing, from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Stephanie J. graduated with a Masters of Art in Teaching in Music Education from Indiana University in 2002. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of West Florida. Stephanie enjoyed singing with The Indiana University Opera and The African American Choral Ensemble, during her graduate work. She has performed the role of Gretel in the opera Hansel and Gretel and has performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Carnegie Hall with vocal solos under the direction of world renowned baritone Sherill Milnes. Stephanie has performed in such musicals as Sweeney Todd, Hello Dolly, Showboat, Lil' Abner and many more.
