The piano has always been my greatest passion; I have never been able to imagine life without it. I was very fortunate to have had the benefit of a great education in music starting at an early age. My goal as pianist and teacher is to pass on the wisdom of my own teachers, as well as my enthusiasm for this great instrument and the rich repertoire of music written for it.

I received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California, where I was a student of Daniel Pollack for 12 years. In order to become the best teacher possible, I minored in Music Education, gaining experience in the major theories of music pedagogy and teaching techniques. In teaching, I strive to create an optimal blend of old and new by combining the great and time-honored traditions of piano playing, as instilled in me through my piano studies, with recent discoveries and advents in the field of music pedagogy.

I have been playing music since I was 7, and now play the guitar, bass, violin, piano, and I also sing. By the time I entered the University of Southern California, I had released my first album of original music, toured the west coast with my own band, toured internationally to China, Canada, France, England, Hungary, Ukraine, and Austria, and performed with The Vienna Boys Choir among other notable musical ensembles.

Since receiving my Bachelor's degree in Guitar Performance (with a minor in Music Recording) from USC, I have released three more albums of original music, produced four albums for other artists, and have toured nationally with my own band. I currently play in three Los Angeles area bands and am the live sound engineer for another. Hi! My name is Al! I've been playing drums for about 11 years now, I started playing at the age of 12 when my parents bought me my first drum set. Since then drumming has been my life, everything from playing in numerous bands, drum competitions, private teaching, and National US Tours. Leaving my home town of Brownsville, TX behind, I moved out to L.A Summer of 2008 to attend the Los Angeles Music Academy, where I received my Associates Degree in Music Performance. Drew got a guitar at the age of 11, and started taking formal lesson right away. He was drawn to classic rock and blues early on. While taking lessons he was introduced to different styles such as Jazz, Funk, Metal, and Shred. He stopped taking lessons after a year and began to learn by transcribing songs by ear. He soon began learning to play songs by artist such as AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, and Eric Clapton. After working on his technique and theory he was able to progress to songs by Pantera, Paul Gilbert, Richie Kotzen, Blues Saraceno, Andy Timmons, and Yngwie Malmsteen. After High School Drew attended Musicians Institute's G.I.T program In Hollywood, CA and completed his Associates Degree in Guitar Performance and Music Theory.

I began playing piano at the age of 5 and never stopped taking lessons until halfway through college. I entered into various competitions and festivals throughout myr young life and did pretty well. I began taking violin lessons at age 9 and continue to play violin as well as sing in a rock band called, The Denouement. My mom was an excellent music teacher and very successful choir director for almost 40 years so I have absorbed all kinds of musical wisdom from her. I have been playing music consistently for over 20 years and teaching music for over 2 years. I am extremely patient, encouraging and kind, but am also very particular when it comes to my students playing the best that they can play.

I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). I am a graduate from CSU Northridge in vocal performance. I have studied under Judy Scott and Marvelee Cariaga. Singing for the past eight years, I have performed in many operas, musicals, opera scenes, chamber music ensembles, and recitals. As seasoned choral singer who has been performing in choirs for ten years, I was, most recently, a member of the 2003 Choir of the World winning ensemble Northridge Singers from 2008-2010. I teach voice in a number of different styles including: classical, musical theater, pop, and folk. I am also an experienced sight-reader, and can instruct singers in sight-singing and musicianship.
