I have been playing guitar, bass and keyboards for 15 years. I have played in numerous bands including the Pyronauts, a Sacramento area based instrumental surf band. From 2001-2004, I attended Chico State University where I received my B.A. in Music/Recording Arts and have also worked as an engineer on a variety of recording projects, including albums, demo projects and jingles. I want to pass on to my students the love of music and recording that I have.

I have been involved in music all of my life. As a child I played trumpet in band and sang in school and church choirs. My favorite movies were musicals and they still are my favorite. Music was my major in college, which included singing, dancing, acting and playing musical instruments. I like all types of music. As a school teacher, I taught 3rd. grade through high school, everything from band and choir to musical theater. I also taught private students, of all ages, piano, guitar, voice and most of the wind instruments.

My first musical memories are jamming with his father Robert (who plays guitar) in a make-shift garage music room in his hometown of San Diego. I soon discovered a love of and fascination with drumming that led me to pursue music as a lifelong passion.

In 2001 I received a B.A. in music from San Diego State University, where I studied classical theory, sang in choirs, took every jazz course available, and played in West African/South Indian drumming ensembles.

I have learned from some of the best players around in many diverse styles and nurtured a lifelong love of music that I take pride in passing on to my students! I have been playing and teaching professionally for almost 20 years, I am now 30.

Parents and students of all ages love my lessons! I have gotten such great feedback over the years, that my lessons are inspirational, fun, and instructive. Parents have remarked that studying guitar with me has contributed to great improvements in the child's grades, concentration, self-confidence and coordination, as well as the obvious musical benefits.

I have studied Ethnomusicology and Recording, as well as Jazz and music theory at the College level. I bring a thorough knowledge of all aspects of music and make that learning fun and empowering for students of all ages, interests and backgrounds! I've has toured nationally and internationally as lead guitarist for Dan Hicks, Al Stewart, Maria Muldaur and more. I've taught Rock/Jazz/Gypsy Jazz/African guitar and music theory at St. Patrick School, St Raphael School, Cathedral School For Boys, Hall Middle School And Redwood High School besides teaching privately and playing throughout the Bay Area and nationally. My vast musical experience gives me the perspective to clearly see what and how to help you become your best possible player in the shortest time!

My Teaching:
I love to teach music to all ages, and have taught hundreds of students in the last 15 years. What you can expect from me is a clear, patient, and understanding teacher who is able to able to meet you where you are on your musical journey, and assist you to expand your knowledge and mastery of the instrument, usually having a lot of fun along the way. I am very comfortable even with teens who know what they want to learn, as well as absolute beginners and kids who need %100 guidance in there practice. I really enjoy students who come to me with some experience and want to learn songs that they love. I enjoy teaching music theory as well as reading, but do not require it.

HI! I graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Music, Science and Technology and then worked as an Audio Engineer at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford, where I recorded and produced a number of Grammy-nominated albums. I worked with amazing students and faculty, helping them utilize digital audio hardware and software for composition and research purposes.

I have been called a natural-born teacher and have taught music to everyone from elementary school students to college graduate students. I began giving guitar lessons in high school and helped put myself through college by giving guitar lessons while I was a student at Stanford.

I love teaching music and have recently taught Guitar, Digital Audio, Music Theory and Musical Acoustics at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA and Cogswell Polytechnical College in Sunnyvale, CA. I am currently teaching at the SAE Institute in San Francisco.

I am a recent graduate from the Jazzschool Institute in Berkeley, CA with a BM in Jazz Performance. I have been leading bands and performing my own compositions in the Bay Area for over 5 years. My current band Occidental just recorded an album of 10 of my original songs at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. I have performed with bands of various styles including Rock, Funk, Jazz (Combos and Big Band), Folk, Hip Hop, Reggae, Salsa, Brazilian and Cumbia, among others. My open mind and playful sense of humor make it a joy for me to teach children and adults alike.
I still remember the excitement I felt when I was given my first guitar on my eighth birthday. That excitement is still growing with every new musical discovery I make. Harmony and chord theory in particular have always captured my imagination and have made composition a joyful daily habit.

I've been playing music all of my life, from rock bands in high school to studying orchestral music at Berklee College of Music. I love creating music and helping others create their own music as well. Whether it's playing live, writing songs or recording in the studio, I'll jump at any chance to help students share their music with others.

I have 18 years experience as a performer, songwriter, and producer, and in diverse genres including jazz, rock, reggae, metal, hip-hop, electronic).

I started teaching lessons while in music school for Classical Guitar in 1996. From 1998 onwards, I played with a variety of musicians from Africa and Latin America, as well the as great American traditions of gospel, funk, jazz, and bluegrass. All the while, I continued to study music theory and composition, on my own and in private lessons with both well-known players and local professionals. Flamenco and Indian Classical music have also been great interests which I am still involved with.

Though guitar is generally my "go-to" instrument, I often use a MIDI keyboard for composition, and studied/performed on bass for 10 years. The last few years, I have begun to develop my voice as well.
