I started taking piano lessons at the age of 12 from Karen Hudson, (a highly respected piano teacher in San Antonio), using the Suzuki Piano Method (an advanced Japanese curriculum). Although I started a little later than the average student, I discovered right away that I had a great love and passion for the instrument.

My goals as a teacher are two-fold: first, to guide students in mastering their chosen instrument as easily as possible; and second, to instill and encourage an enduring love and better understanding of music in each student. Weekly lessons are a combination of warm up routines, technical exercises, and performance pieces, with the student's individual strengths and weaknesses in mind. The tone of lessons is always encouraging and lighthearted in an effort to help students avoid continual frustration. I also train students to listen objectively with a discerning ear to their musical efforts, and teach effective, efficient practice methods for success outside of lessons. Learning a ...

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile. My name is Felipe Garcia and I am a self-taught, multi-instrumentalist. I began teaching music in 2010 and have loved it ever since. I believe learning to play music can be fun and easy, and I work hard to make sure your experience with music is one that will inspire you to play for the rest of your life, for as Friedrich Nietzsche said, “without music, life would be a mistake.”
In addition to being tons of fun, learning to play music can affect your life in so many ways. Studies show that learning to play music facilitates the learning of other subjects and helps to develop the areas of the brain that are associated with language and reasoning, as well as supports spatial intelligence. Learning music also helps creative thinking, ...
