Hello stranger, and welcome! Allow me to tell you a bit about myself. My name is Davin, and I am a musician to the core. I have been singing practically since I could speak, and have performed in ensembles my entire life. Whether it was with my church, the Madison Youth Choirs, in high school, college, or professionally, I have sung as both a choral member and a soloist for over 16 years. By the time I was a sophomore in high school I knew I wanted to spend my life performing and teaching music, which led me to Luther College. There I graduated with a B.A. after studying vocal music and education in one of the most rigorous music programs in the nation.

I bring all of my substantial training and personal experience to my lessons. I have been teaching for over 8 years and my unique versatility as an educator has given me the experience I need to be successful. I am an Orff-Schulwerk trained teacher, whose philosophy is based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and keep a beat on anything near at hand in a non-competitive atmosphere where one of the rewards is the pleasure of making good music with others. I have an outstanding rapport with children in the classroom and in one-on-one instruction. I am also a leader and a performer whether I am conducting songs at the all-school assemblies, singing in the community choir, or playing rock music in a club. In addition to the many creative projects outside of work, I am an active board member of my local Orff-Schulwerk chapter which promotes a network of music educators.

Hello! I'm Justin, a classically trained Baritone with an emphasis in operatic singing. I have earned my Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, where I have appeared in various operas, and performed many recitals. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Music degree at the University of Minnesota. In addition to a semi-regular recital schedule in my undergraduate work, I have played the roles of Papageno in The Magic Flute, Marcello in La Boheme, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and Marco in Gianni Schicchi. I am currently preparing a number of operatic scenes for performance with the U of M Opera Workshop. I am the Bass Section Leader at the Central Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, MN.

Singing and music can boost your confidence and can be an activity that is both challenging and enjoyable. Singing is also personal and I believe it is important to see lessons as a collaboration between teacher and student.

I am also an active performer with a focus in opera and musical theater. I currently singing with Minnesota Opera and have performed such roles as Suzuki in Madame Butterfly, Alisa in Lucia, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro and the title role in Carmen. I believe that a great teacher has experience they can share with students. I understand the challenges of singing because I face them professionally everyday. Singing is like a sport; it is about muscular coordination, which with practice and focused instruction, is something that anyone can improve!
