With the drum set being my primary instrument, my approach as a drummer has always been to bring a song to the next level in whatever way that may be. Whether it be helping to develop the emotional build of a section, or to make a transition become more creative and have more impact, my approach is always asking myself what can be done to make a piece of music more meaningful. My mindset and approach toward what I am trying to accomplish or display changes dramatically depending on the situation, and my approach to drum solos is vastly different compared to when I am writing parts for a specific song. My vocal exploration began at age three singing solos at church, and I later adding ballet and piano lessons to my artistic studies. As a teenager, I performed with the concert choir and madrigal singers under the tutelage of Hal Wildung, a teacher who affected me so deeply with his love of classical choral music that it changed my life, although I wouldn’t realize it until much later. As a young artist, I wrote, sang and performed with numerous original rock, pop, funk & blues bands; simultaneously acting, singing, dancing or choreographing stage musicals. Early on in my career I was lucky enough to get a private session with Jeannette LoVetri who first introduced me to Alexander Technique exercises that I use to this day.

I have been teaching lessons and performing for over ten years in a wide variety of styles and settings. I have a master's degree in Jazz Studies from Purchase College and a bachelors degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Jazz and African American Studies. After college I worked on Carnival Cruise Lines for three years, which gave me a ton of experience in all sorts of musical genres. Afterwards, I lived in Brooklyn, playing around town and teaching in Brooklyn and Long Island. After a summer living on Cape Cod while performing with the great wedding/corporate band, "The Sultans of Swing," I moved with my wife to the beautiful city of Minneapolis.
