It is my experience that no matter what kind of music you end up playing a solid classical piano background is invaluable. I was privately trained in classical piano from the ages 5 - 17 in Los Angeles, California. My teachers were Mary Brady, Mae Gilbert Reese and Jeane Weiss. I graduated from Harvard High School and then graduated from UCLA with BA in art. I am a Los Angeles based artist and composer. Recently I was nominated Best Music Director of the year by the L.A. Weekly for my work on 'Head the Musical' at the Met Theater Los Angeles in 2010. I am currently mounting an opera I wrote at the Met Theater. I have been teaching private piano lessons to students ages 8 to adult for the last six years.

My experience as a musical director has honed my skills as a good communicator and teacher. I know how to get people trained and motivated to perform on stage with confidence no matter what their skill level.

I grew up in Los Angeles and went on to attend the University of Redlands .While at University, I played in the University Orchestra and a variety of other ensembles. In addition to violin, I also studied jazz guitar, so classical music is definitely not the only musical style I am familiar with.

I am lucky enough to study with Jeanne Skrocki, who is currently the Concertmaster of the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and the Assistant Concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony.

My musical experience with violin is not confined to classical! I also have experience with other styles, including Irish folk music and bluegrass. While classical is my bread and butter, I can take a more rounded approach in terms of exposure to musical styles if desired.

I have an undergraduate degree in music composition and theory, a Masters degree Jazz Studies with an emphasis in Guitar Performance, a Masters in Musicology, and I was a Doctoral Candidate in Musicology/ Ethnomusicology/ Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California.

My system of teaching is proven to get you playing in no time. Typically, beginning students are instructed via my "Basics Curriculum", and then move on to custom tailored sessions at the intermediate or advanced level. Chris P has loved drums ever since he started playing them at the age of 11. Since then, Chris has played in a variety of concert venues ranging from the Jazz Bakery to Walt Disney Concert Hall. In 2010, Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in percussion performance at UCLA under the guidance of Mitchell Peters. Raised in a family of teachers, Chris uses his strong interpersonal skills to accommodate to each students needs in order to develop them into becoming a better musician.

I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English and can speak some Taiwanese, and enjoy teaching students of all ages. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I am able to tailor the speed, curriculum and style of each lesson to the individual. I like to make my classes fun, and am constantly thinking of new ways to engage young musicians. I have been playing the piano for 7 years, but have been involved in the musical institution for much longer than that. I am currently pursuing my bachelors in classical piano performance from California State University of Dominguez Hills, with not much longer to go. I have also been shaping minds young and old in piano technique and music theory for the last three years. And, I believe I am an ideal teacher for anyone just starting out, to those who are trying to continue from where they left off.

I teach students of all ages in a relaxed, encouraging, and fun way- but with the structure many beginners need to reach their goals! I have been drumming for 11 years, performing, recording, and touring. My career started in San Francisco in High School performing in local venues and music festivals, with a Garage/Punk band. Then began performing in a jazz/funk band in SF and surrounding bay area cities. Congruently, I started performing, recording and touring with an Indie/pop band. Making records and touring nationally. Thereafter, I moved to LA to begin the next phase of my career. Teaching, Performing, Recording and Touring.

I have shared the road and stage with such acts: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Fun., Jukebox the Ghost, Pop Etc, Miniature Tigers, The Submarines, Allen Stone, ZZ Ward, and many others.

I have studied at CCSF, and with Dawn Richardson (4 non Blondes, Tracy Chapman) and Nate Morton (The Voice).
