Music can inspire creativity and growth; it can evoke tranquility and joy. This was the case for Cindy W. who began playing the piano at the age of ten and within a couple of years studied composers such as Debussy, Liszt, Bach, and Chopin. While only in junior high, she started teaching piano, rapidly gaining teaching and business experience. She held annual recitals giving the students an opportunity to perform for their parents and peers in a public setting. Cindy studied music with Rachel Perez-Hayes, a graduate from the Juilliard School of Music, New York, and was considered gifted and talented with perfect pitch recognition. Her background in music coupled with a Master's degree in Educational Psychology has enabled her to create unique lesson plans for each student ...

Music has been a large part of my life since I first started taking piano lessons at the age of six. In fifth grade, I learned to play the flute, and I performed in bands all the way through college. In high school, I also picked up the violin, and enjoyed playing in orchestras as well. I earned my Bachelors degree in Music Education and my California teaching credential from Biola University in Southern California. During that time, I enjoyed playing many other instruments. My primary instruments are the flute, piano, and violin, although I also play (and teach) beginning clarinet, viola, and cello. In addition to giving private lessons, I also teach school band and orchestra, so I bring the added perspective of a conductor who can help students learn how their part fits in ...

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2010 with degrees in History and Music, I spent several years touring and recording with artists on the East Coast, teaching as many as 20 private lessons a week, and learning to play tabla (Indian hand drums) to keep my own musical education alive and moving forward. I have a passion for music of all kinds, and specifically for drums and percussion. As a result of my diverse tastes, I have quite an eclectic performance background. Over the last decade I have performed with rock and metal bands, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, various independent singers and songwriters, musical theater productions, African drum ensembles, and even played tabla for a contemporary dance company back in Virginia. Recently my girlfriend and I ...
