About Judy

I started taking music lessons at the age of 9. It began playing in the church and then I taught lessons in my home at the age of 16. I went on to attend and graduate from Christian Heritage College (now called San Diego Christian College) with a Bachelors Degree in Music and Business. I am now the Director of the Music Department at San Diego Young Artists Music Academy. I direct two youth and children choirs, a male chorus and a great adult choir. I also sing with the Voices of Prayze who travel with Jason Mraz from time to time. As a singer, pianist and as a teacher, I specialize in Gospel piano & vocal technique and repertoire. I also have a great deal of experience in Pop, R&B, and Classical so I am able to help students excel in these genres as well.

My daughter started piano as a beginner about a year ago with Judy. She LOVES going to her lessons and has done really well with the piano. Judy is a WONDERFUL teacher always encouraging my daughter and making learning fun! Since my mother was a piano teacher, I wanted my daughter to have strong background in theory. Judy is certainly giving her that and I am thrilled! I am very pleased!

Best Singing Teacher Ever!!!

She uncovered a talent I did not know I have. Extremely patient and fun while learning new ways of singing. Highly Recommend Judy if you are looking to take your singing to the next level.

My Favorite Teacher

I have taken voice lessons from Ms. Judy 5 years and I now am a lead vocalist at my church and have so much confidence with my capabilities now. She is the best teacher I've ever had and I recommend her to anyone ready to reach that next level in their skills no matter beginning or advanced.
Spencer V. San Diego, CA

About Spencer

I was born in Santa Barbara, but I have lived in many states and I have also lived outside of the country. I started to play the piano at age 11, which is much older than when most children start. Once I began playing the piano I became addicted to it. Because I have moved around a lot, I had many piano teachers and learned from many different teaching styles. In college I began playing the organ and I am now the organist at St. Ann Catholic Church in Logan Heights.

I am neither too strict nor too laid back, but just right! I have taught many students, each of whom respond differently to different teaching styles. Some students respond better to a more rigid style of teaching, where others need more flexibility. What is important to me is that my students enjoy ...

Excellent organ instructor

I recently started taking organ lessons, after having taken piano lessons years ago. Spencer has been great in helping me build on my past skills as I learn to play a new instrument. He’s very professional and enthusiastic. I highly recommend him as an instructor.

About Thomas

One day, out of the blue, when I was twelve years old my mom asked me if I wanted to take guitar lessons, and I can not thank her enough!!! I had always been very interested in music and I could always hold a tune in music class. The truth is, I had always wanted to play music and be in a band since I could remember, I just did not know how to go about it. So I started taking guitar lessons but was never really the best student. I would practice what I wanted to play and that was it until I finally fizzled out. Then one day I was going through one of my drawers and found my old lesson book. The song "Over the Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin just seemed to taunt me! This is the moment my life started to change. This was one of the first times in my life that I could tangibly ...
