I am a Board Certified Music Therapist. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Montclair State University, where I studied music therapy with a concentration in piano. I have been a piano teacher for 8 years. I have been playing piano for 16 years, singing in choirs for 13 years, and playing flute for 10 years (mostly band). I am currently studying piano with Mark Pakman.
Music Performances have taken me to Maryland Jazz Festival, NJPAC, Carnegie Hall, Moscow Conservatory, and several other places with bands, choirs, and solo.
Music has also taken me to Nepal, where I worked with children adolescents, and young adults, in a Christian based organization with music and other subjects.

I have been a voice teacher for over twenty- five years. My background includes ten years of classical training with Maestro Julio Berrocal as well as vocal technique through the Feldekrais approach with Marcy Lindhiemer. In acting I have studied with renowned Stanislavsky scholar Sonia Moore and with Master Theater of the Strasberg Method, Marcia Haufrecht. I believe we all have something distinctive that can be developed and expressed through the voice. I work to help the student discover their individual and unique sound. I give them the tools to gain ability and confidence in achieving their goals. I empathize deeply with the challenges the student faces both in studying voice and performing since I have been a professional singer for many years. Music has been part of my life since the age of three. My first inspiration was my mother, who was a working singer in the 70's. My second inspiration and mentor was my High School Music Teacher, Mr. Wynn, and I am grateful for all he has taught me. I am passionate about teaching and would like to have the opportunity to be as inspirational to my students as Mr. Wynne was to me. As you can see from my resume below, I have been very active in performing and teaching. At the age of 37, I feel even stronger that the choice I made to make MUSIC my career was the absolute correct one. I believe in the Bible principle that it is better to give than to receive. I am a music educator, performer, and student. At the young at of 27 I've has gained many in-depth experiences in the multiple areas of our musical world. I've taken lessons with some of my idols, played venues I had only dreamed of as child, and I am currently managing and performing with my own group MoPhat. With 15 years of experience in playing various musical genres (Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, and R&B), l am well prepared to teach aspiring guitarists of all ages and levels.

Music has been a part of my life since before I can remember, going back to the days of pots and pans until finally getting my first drum set at age 3. Despite taking piano and guitar lessons in middle school, I always wound up back at the drums. Throughout high school I was involved in as many music ensembles as possible: concert bands, jazz bands, madrigal and concert choirs, winter percussion ensemble, and marching band. I also played drums in a few local bands that ranged in many styles: rock, jazz, latin, punk and ska. Hi! I'm Heather, an operatic soprano and violinist. I'm in my final year of Juilliard's Master of Music program, and I completed my undergraduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
I started studying music at a very young age, so I know what it's like to be a young student: I really like to keep things fun, but I'm versatile and can be quite strict if (and only if) that's a student's preference. I like to cater my teaching-- in both method and presentation-- to the individual student.
I consider myself very lucky in that I am able to live a life in and about music, and I am very excited to share that joy!

I fell in love with teaching music while a student myself! I am an alumnus of the University of Michigan, where I received a Masters of Music in 2007, and a Bachelors of Music in 2006. While there, I began teaching at my private vocal studio and studying vocal pedagogy. Since graduation, I have continued teaching privately in New York. I love what I do. I find it so fulfilling to give my students the tools that they need to succeed and watch them achieve their goals.

I have performed in both the US and internationally on a professional level. As a performer I am comfortable in a range of repertoire: Musical Theater, Jazz, Opera, Pop, Folk and other genres. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from New York University, and I am working on my Master of Music degree at Manhattan School of Music.

I have performed at many well-known venues including The Blue Note, The Jazz Gallery, The Bitter End, Sullivan Hall, The Garage, Caffe Vivaldi, Miles Cafe, and The Local 269 in New York City; Twins Jazz Club in Washington DC; Trumpets Jazz Club in Montclair NJ; and Chris' Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia.

I made my Broadway debut with the original cast of Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s hit musical Mary Poppins and became Broadway's second Mary, flying over the heads and into the hearts of Broadway audiences for over 100 performances.  I left that production to join the original cast of the highly acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime.  

I continue to cross the country representing Walt Disney Productions in national concert appearances. I have also has appeared on The Today Show, The View, the 2007 Tony Awards Show, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I have sung for the annual Broadway on Broadway Concert in Times Square, Broadway Sings for Toys and the Fred Ebb Awards.   Recently, I was seen at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre as Hope in Anything Goes, and in the title role of the musical, Gypsy, in the premiere production of the new North Shore Music Theatre, as Mary Poppins in the  televised 2010 IKEA Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2011 Walt Disney World Christmas...
