Albino M. Cambridge, MA

I have been playing bass for 10 years. In 10 years I have been working with bands from live shows and studio recording.

About Albino

Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at 16 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and strings made out of electrical cords.

Drawn to the sounds of neighborhood street musicians in Maputo, Albino began to play in a number of local bands. As with his home-made guitar, Albino wanted to combine styles and incorporate diverse elements in his music. For his talents to grow, he knew he needed experience new places, cultures, and sounds.

Music Theory · In home
I never thought I would confidently understand music theory, even after years of practice, self-teaching, college electives, etc... I just never felt like I "got" it. Brad changed all that. Studying music theory with Brad's guidance and encouragement, I quickly began to feel as though I could "speak" music fluently.

Brad is a phenomenal teacher, and can adapt to almost any situation. If I wasn't understanding something, he never got frustrated, he would find a way to explain it differently until something finally stuck. That's very important I think. I've had too many teachers give up and say, "If you don't get this, you never will." Brad doesn't think like that. To him, "just not getting it" isn't an option. If you want to learn something, he'll find a way to teach it to you.

I studied music theory with Brad my senior year of high school, and it was the best decision I could have made! Brad fully prepared me for college-level theory at a conservatory, and I have excelled as a performer because of the great theory background Brad provided me with. He knows music theory inside and out, and he is able to adapt his teaching skills for any student. Thanks for all your help, Brad!

I took lessons with Brad for about 4 and a half years, and learned so much- from how to tune my guitar, to really complicated pieces. Not only is he a brilliant guitarist, but he is also such a patient and encouraging teacher and genuinely cares about the success of his students! I would strongly recommend Brad to anyone looking for a guitar teacher!

About Christopher

Welcome! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, song writer, and experienced music teacher. I began learning music when I was nine on the piano however by the time I turned twelve I discovered my passion for the guitar. I began by learning songs and playing in band with some of my school friends. This was the start of my journey into music. I started with blues, rock, and pop music but I quickly moved into more complex genres such as funk and Jazz music.

In college I began my studies of the historically endless and huge world of classical music. This is also when I began teaching and taking students of guitar. I studied classical music at Hofstra University and completed my degree at Humboldt State University in Northern California. After earning my degree I began ...

Aleksandra P. Watertown, MA

My first experiences with teaching occurred in a martial arts studio at age fifteen, where I was an instructors assistant, and worked with adults and children as young as four. I have a particular passion for working with children, and currently serve as an Out Of School Time Enrichment Teacher in Waltham. I have been teaching music privately off and on since 2009. I strive to keep my students motivated by keeping the focus on the music they want to learn. Practicing an instrument should be fun, not a chore. My goal is to provide an enriching, fun, and therapeutic experience each lesson.

About Aleksandra

I am a Berklee graduate with over a decade of experience performing, composing, and teaching. Music has shaped my life, and I would love to see how it can shape yours. There is no limit to the profound joy of learning an instrument and expressing ones self through it, and you are never to young or to old to start! Everyone has different musical tastes, and strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to bring out your inner excellence by teaching to your learning style, and showing you how to play the music that YOU are passionate about. I am not interested in force feeding you songs or styles of music that you are not interested in. I strive to keep my students constantly motivated and enthused each lesson.

John is extremely versatile and talented, and his love for music is so obvious and inspiring. I went to him with what I thought was a solid foundation of knowledge but he brought so many new ideas to the table that I started thinking of music in a whole new-and positive- way. He is very personable and easy to work with, and he treats you with respect and focused attention to detail. Definitely try working with him, you won't regret it!
