"Awesome woman! Beautiful soul, beautiful dancer! She is a very encouraging teacher and gently guides you until you get it right. Belly dancing is wonderful for your self-esteem as you learn to control and isolate parts of your body to move in ways that are fluid, graceful, and fun!
My only regret - not doing this when I was younger." - Mandy, 1/2/14

There is a studio across from my apartment building with barres and mirrors. As a warm up, we could do barre exercises and other stretches to improve flexibility and to concentrate on technique. Then, we can do some core and leg strengthening exercises to build endurance and improve jump height and balance. There is plenty of room in the studio to work on kicks, jumps, leg extensions, turns, and choreography. I will bring my laptop to lessons in order to play barre music or to watch dance videos. For a first lesson, feel free to bring any recital or competition videos. This will help me to determine what we might want to work on in future lessons.
FLUTE AND OTHER INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of St. Francis. As a requirement for my degree, I have been able to learn various instruments of all the different instrument families. However, my primary instrument is flute, which I have been playing for almost 15 years. I started taking private lessons 5th grade. I received four years of formal university flute instruction from highly regarded flute instructors. I have taught flute students ranging from third grade to twelfth grade. One of my secondary instruments is piano. I received four years of college instruction for piano. With my training and playing experience, I am sure to be able to help you improve throughout our lessons!

You could look on my profile for this info, so I'll keep this one short. Expect to learn smooth, natural flowing dance. What I mean is that you won't look like you're counting out steps in your head like how a lot of studio hip-hop dancers may look. You can expect straightforward honesty from me, clean, good music to learn to, and unique styles you won't learn just anywhere. I want my style to be learned as a base and for students to expand based on their preferences. I'm only a guide for them..
I'm not but 18 years old, but I've got an expansive knowledge of street dance styles: Animation, traditional popping, hip-hop, and krumping. I tend not to lean towards dance studios with street styles due to the lack of originality that comes from a lot of studio based hip-hop dancers. Also, many times, the learning of the styles from simple 8-counts makes execution of the style look choppy and unnatural. Dance theory tends not to be a topic made important in large classes as well. This often doesn't help the student develop new ideas to expand their style or boost creativity. None of these will be problems with learning from a street-born street dancer. I've been dancing for a tad until 10 years and have taught several people choreography as well as basic moves to get ...
I'm trained and certified in over 16 styles of social dance.
I started dancing at the age of 3, after seeing my first Gene Kelly Movie and was hooked. Starting out I focused mainly on Jazz, Contemporary, and Modern. In 202 I found the world of Ballroom Dancing which re-affirmed my love of dance. Having worked for several well known chain studios I found my way to a smaller independent studio located in the South Suburbs of Chicago 6 years ago. During my time at Heart & Sole Dance I've had the privilege of working with children in our youth program (starting at age 3), adults wanting to learn how to social dance, adults and children who prefer the excitement of competition (mainly in the Swing and Country world), and wedding couples and their parties prepare for their special day.
I also teach multiple group classes at the studio we ...

"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
