Taught privately in the Washington DC area for 3 years before moving to NYC to earn my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music majoring in Jazz Guitar. I am young but very knowledgeable and I have a knack for teaching. I gigged regularly in the DMV and NYC areas and have been doing a lot of shows, private parties, receptions, weddings, and business events. i have made recordings in studios and I am very musically active. I am extremely passionate, and I live to play, learn, and of course teach the guitar.

For beginners the basics of rhythm, musical styles and practical fretboard knowledge are essential. Sight reading is always stressed but not necessary.
For more intermediate and advanced students we will pursue more technical styles as such as Funk, Rock, Jazz and Classical repertoire depending on the students needs or desires.

A native of Washington DC, Scott has performed for over 45 years in various shows, bands & theaters. He has worked with The Glenn Miller Orchestra and The Modernaires; The Peter Duchin Orchestra; The Ink Spots; The Tokens; Rory (Disney Channel); Charlie Byrd; Susannah McCorkle; Keely Smith & John Colianni (accompanist for Mel Torme) to name a few.
He has also toured for the USO with Miss USA in Europe 85’ (With an 18 year old Halle Berry) and Miss USA in Central America 86’.
Besides playing a in few theater pits, Scott has also performed on the stage as a musical character in the Kennedy Center’s ‘92 production of “Pump Boys & Dinettes”, taking the role of inbred “Eddie” to new lows.

Bob W. received his Bachelors degree in Classical Guitar performance from Catholic University. An accomplished classical guitarist, teacher, and arranger, Bob performs regularly at public and private events.
He is a regular guest artist for Afternoon Teas at the Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda MD, as well as Brookside Gardens annual "Garden of Lights" winter festival, and Sandy Spring Museum concert series. He has also performed at a reception for the Washington Bach Consort, along with numerous weddings and
special events Bob is currently involved with the Friedman/W. Flute/Guitar Duo, and has participated in ensembles including the Potowmak Trio, the Vivaldi Trio and the Joyful Noise folk group.
*** Lesson Details ***
For the beginner we start learning immediately, by choosing what guitar and why. The different methods of sitting with the guitar, as well as standing.We then go over tuning your instrument, these things make us more familiar with the instrument. We then learn new songs by playing either chords (harmony) or melodic lines, (melodies or scales). The beginner will also learn to use "proper technique" which includes playing on fingertips, thumb placement for the fretting hand and other approaches. The picking hand techniques include and are not limited to finger picking, or the use of the plectrum.
For intermediate player it's all about theory and practice. This level of student will learn scale and chordal theory, and apply them to existing songs as well as learning the new songs with the theory in mind. Louis J. has over 20 years of experience playing and teaching piano. He has traveled across the states performing and opening for various artists such as Jonathan Butler and Donnie McClurklin. Mr. J. studied classical piano with Patricia King and studied jazz piano with Harry Appleman at Montgomery College. He received his B.S. degree from High Point University.
While in college, he studied music theory and music composition. His musical influences range from Mozart to Oscar Peterson. Although his primary instrument is piano, he also plays guitar, bass, drums, and the organ. He currently serves as the Director of Music at a local church in Alexandria, Va. Mr. J. performs regularly throughout the DC metro area as a studio session musician, music director, and accompanist.
