Well music is what I have been doing since kindergarten! I started singing in my church's choir at 5 and have been singing ever since. I started playing violin in the 4th grade and still play today!
I was the principle second violin at Caledonia High School for two years. I played in the Honors Orchestra all throughout high school under the direction of Mr. Peter DeLille. Our orchestra traveled to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida to perform. We also performed in Quincy Market in Boston.
I was fortunate to also sing in CHS's Choralaires for one year. Choralaires was the top choir in the high school. We sang for Grand Rapids' Christmas Parade, and sang for the opening of Caledonia's CalPlex.
I started taking vocal and violin lessons at Central Michigan University in 2011.
I am currently a sophomore at CMU studying music therapy. My primary instrument is voice. I have taken and passed music theory, piano, and aural skills. I have been under the instruction of Dr. Cora Enman, Dr. Elizabeth Stoner-Cameron, and Dr. Nina Nash-Robertson. I sing in the Concert Choir here and absolutely love it! I also play in the CMU Symphony Orchestra as assistant principle second violin. I have pit orchestra experience as well for the operas The Telephone, Gianni Schicci, and Pirates of Penzance.
Currently I am still taking voice lessons and finishing my schooling for my Bachelor of Arts in Music and then I plan on going to Western Michigan University to get certified in Music Therapy. I help out composition students with records of their pieces, I plan on singing in Ted Brauker's recital choir next year, I am auditioning for CMU's opera and Chamber Singers. I also want to start a Sweet Adeline group here at CMU!
I sing a variety of styles including classical, music theater, jazz, opera and sacred music. I like to play Baroque music on violin, but that is just a personal preference! I also have experience sight-reading contemporary christian rock when I play violin at Holy Family Catholic Church.
I would love to share my wide musical interests and experiences with my students and help them grow and find what their interests are!
