I began playing guitar about 15 years ago and have made music an integral part of my life since Day 1. While working towards my degree in Music Composition at U.C. Riverside, I began teaching as a means to earn extra money. After graduating in 2007, I began teaching full time. Over the past several years I have professionally released 2 full length records and 1 E.P., have toured the U.S., New Zealand and Australia, was featured in AllMusic Guide (in which my album received a 4 star rating), have performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX on 2 separate occasions, and have licensed songs to MTV, VH1 and Universal Pictures. Though gigging, writing and recording keeps me busy, teaching has remained the one constant, and nothing brings me greater satisfaction than sharing the joy of music with my students.

ABOUT MYSELF
I started late on the guitar in a family of musicians. I picked up the guitar when I was 18 years old when I found an old acoustic at my grandfather’s house. From then I was self taught listening to Punk Rock, New Wave, and learning from friends. My love for the instrument and music drove me to really apply myself to really learning how to play. I would sit and just be creative, writing my own songs and putting little back yard bands together with my cousin and friends. Then, it was time for college and had to make a decision on what to study. Music was my passion and I never really taken a lesson before. I prepared myself by studying with Stephan Ferrara-Grand in San Clemente,CA for a short time to audition into the music program. I passed! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the San Diego State University School of Music and Dance in 1999, and I studied jazz guitar with international guitarist/violinist Art Johnson and theory with David Ward-Steinman. I was first introduced to music (on piano) at an early age and later fell in love with the guitar. I studied both acoustic and electric guitar under private instructors through my middle and high school years, and enjoyed every moment. I have always enjoyed listening to a wide range of music artists and genres, and am very open to learning more and expanding my knowledge in music. My pursuit to become a better musician has led me to Riverside Community College where I am currently studying classical guitar performance and music theory.

My name is Chris and I am a professional guitar player. I have been teaching for about four years now and sharing the joy of music with others has become a passion of mine.
I started playing the piano at the age of five, the trumpet at nine and the guitar at thirteen. Over the years I have also learned to play the drums, bass, harmonica as well as how to sing! I studied at L.A. Music Academy as well as Musicians Institute. I currently play in two bands, recording my debut solo album and recently played the National Anthem for a profession football team!

I have performed professionally at Disneyland, was former musical director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and have toured professionally with many groups; including Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and the AlcoSKAlics.

Teaching has been a passion of mine since the mid-'90s. I have taught students that were as young as 5 years old to 80 years old. I can teach and play a variety of instruments, including: keyboards, bass, drums, latin percussion, brass instruments and acoustic guitar. I also teach compostion, arranging, and conducting.

Many of my formers students have gone on to become professional musicians, teachers, and recording engineers.

I grew up in Quebec City Canada, where I only spoke French during those growing years. From a very young age, I was always attracted to music and particularly playing drums. My mom has told me that before I could even walk, I was already banging away on whatever I could put my hands on. I would sit down with pots, pans, and spoons and bang away. My parents bought my first “real” drum kit when I was about five years old. It was a Mickey Mouse drum set that they ordered from the Sears catalog. I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, because of the poor quality of the drum, this particular kit only lasted a couple months, but it was on that very drum kit that I gave my first live performance. The concert took place in the basement of my house. This memorable concert included one song, a French version of California dreaming, with me on drums, my brother on guitar and my sister as a singer.
