Hello there, my name is Jason H. and I am here to give quality lessons to eager people. I have 20 years of hands on experience that I can offer my students and I am more than happy to do so. I have spanned across the entire musical spectrum regarding styles and I have been in front and behind the scenes of the music industry. I am also a husband and a father, so I can relate to boys, girls, young and old! I have been playing drums since I was 8 years old, recording since I was 16 and running a sound production company since I was 22. Other interests of mine are History, Hockey, Baseball, (I still play both when I have time) Hiking, Bike riding, Videography, Teaching and Parenting.

I have performed professionally at Disneyland, was former musical director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and have toured professionally with many groups; including Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and the AlcoSKAlics.

Teaching has been a passion of mine since the mid-'90s. I have taught students that were as young as 5 years old to 80 years old. I can teach and play a variety of instruments, including: keyboards, bass, drums, latin percussion, brass instruments and acoustic guitar. I also teach compostion, arranging, and conducting.

Many of my formers students have gone on to become professional musicians, teachers, and recording engineers.

I grew up in Quebec City Canada, where I only spoke French during those growing years. From a very young age, I was always attracted to music and particularly playing drums. My mom has told me that before I could even walk, I was already banging away on whatever I could put my hands on. I would sit down with pots, pans, and spoons and bang away. My parents bought my first “real” drum kit when I was about five years old. It was a Mickey Mouse drum set that they ordered from the Sears catalog. I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, because of the poor quality of the drum, this particular kit only lasted a couple months, but it was on that very drum kit that I gave my first live performance. The concert took place in the basement of my house. This memorable concert included one song, a French version of California dreaming, with me on drums, my brother on guitar and my sister as a singer. The crowd (one uncle and our mom) loved it and saw the potential in what could be a career someday!...

Kris has been on the teaching staff of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood since 2001, and has received his Bachelors Degree in Music from Cal State Northridge.

When I was 2 years old I saw my uncle play the drums in a band at a family gathering. For some reason which I can't explain, I ignored all of the other instruments on stage and became fixated on the drum set! When the show was over I went over to my uncle's side to take a closer look. Then I was hoisted up into his lap where I was allowed, for the first time, to play the drums myself. Ever since that day all I could think of was having a kit of my own.
Finally, at the age of 7 I got what I had wanted for five long years. It was a toy-sized, royal blue DRUMSET! At first I played whatever rhythms I could come up with or whatever beats my father could show me. But eventually my parents forced me into taking some lessons. "You're not just going to bang on them all day," my father told me, "you're going to learn to really play." I am an experienced drumset player and rudimental percussionist. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for percussion with all of my students, and love to see the progress that comes from hard work and determination. I have an extensive background in marching percussion, and I use that knowledge and experience to improve technique and skill on the drums, while not losing sight of the "feel" that is required to properly play. I have been teaching privately for more than 18 years, and have spent 10 seasons with the World Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, both as a performing member and an instructor. I bring a dynamic and multifaceted perspective to the creative exploration of the percussive arts, with over 40 years of diverse musical experience which includes performing with Nigerian master drummer Francis Awe’s Talking Drum Ensemble, competing to top international honors with the Misty Isle Pipe Band, ensembles large and small covering music in a wide range of genres, as well as extended experience in solo accompaniment for modern dance and performance art. Hi! My name is Al! I've been playing drums for about 11 years now, I started playing at the age of 12 when my parents bought me my first drum set. Since then drumming has been my life, everything from playing in numerous bands, drum competitions, private teaching, and National US Tours. Leaving my home town of Brownsville, TX behind, I moved out to L.A Summer of 2008 to attend the Los Angeles Music Academy, where I received my Associates Degree in Music Performance. I currently teach private lessons and I gig around town with various artists. I have lots of musical knowledge that Iv'e obtained by studying with LA's Top Drummers. I absolutely love to teach, but not just because of my love for the drums or my life-long appreciation of music, but because of my enjoyment of people and the learning process itself. I have over twenty years of performance experience as a drummer. I have an AA degree in Music from Pasadena City College. I have a BA in Music from California State University, Northridge. I have taught individual and group instruction, focusing on hand technique and sight-reading. I attended Grove School of Music in 1990, where I studied hand and sticking technique and Latin drum-set application. I have performed in a variety of musical situations from big band performances to musicals, jazz trios, rock shows, and an independent film score.

I have been a student of the drums myself for 17 years. I started like many musicians have, learning to play a musical instrument in the school band. I picked up some drum sticks and haven't put them down since. My favorite styles of music are funk and rock. I have studied orchestral drumming, drumset, and music theory for 2 years at the collegiate level. I have taken several private lessons with well renown drummers and clinicians. Ranging from Dom Famularo and Phil Maturano, to Evan Stone and Dave Elitch. Please take the time to look them up and take in their amazing playing abilities. I currently play with 3 bands and record whenever the opportunity arises.

I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.
