I have toured the East Coast Venues (NYC to Key West) for 30 years, and produced 10 CDs, and have 3 EMMY AWARDS for sound track music for the EXPEDITION FLORIDA SERIES, Nature Documentaries. They were funded by the University of Florida, Museum of Natural History, and the Tourist Development Council of Alachua County, Florida.

I play acoustic and electric six string guitars, electric bass guitar, piano and keyboards, drums, percussion and hand drums. I majored in Flute and Voice at UF and have spent my entire life immersed in the world of music.

With 2 American Idol finalists to his credit, along with numerous students who have gone on to professional careers in theater, television, and film. He also has extensive experience as Musical Director for over 40 theatrical productions in the past 15 years.

He has received an award in Southern California for Outstanding Musical Direction in a theatrical production of The King and I. He is currently the vocal coach for Magenta Theater in Vancouver, WA.

He has traveled the US with an international singing group, been a choral director in various capacities for over 40 years, and worked as a recording studio engineer.

My name is Kyle Shipp and I'm incredibly passionate about music education for all ages. Over twenty years of playing all instruments has taught me there is not one specific way to teach music, so I change my curriculum for every student and completely customize what you learn to how you learn, and what you're interested in. I started teaching music lessons in after school programs when I was eleven and fell totally in love. I continued to do this for many years driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at church youth groups and local Boys and Girls Club all around my hometown.

I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon. At each of these Universities I taught students my age, and a few professors, as well as locals in each town.

Nicole’s journey in music began when her father introduced her to improvised music at a young age. Her earliest exposure to jazz included Sonny Rollins’ “Saxophone Collossus” and John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps”. She began playing the clarinet at the age of ten, transitioning to tenor saxophone the following year.

Nicole’s interest and curiosity for music began to blossom in high school. She became involved in a variety of performance ensembles, both within her school and in the community. In 2007, Nicole joined the Pacific Crest Jazz Orchestra directed by Thara Memory. This competitive, pre-professional ensemble not only provided a solid foundation in the classic repertoire of the jazz lineage, but also granted her the opportunity to travel the country and perform at several renowned jazz festivals, including the Monterey Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. I'm a multi-instrumentalist from the Northwest with lots of love for teaching people to groove. I got my bachelors in music from Whitman College with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. I can teach anyone to rock, swing or get unreasonably funky. Lessons can be casual or serious and I'm down to tell you how to get to Carnegie Hall or onto the stage at your local jam session.

I have a Master’s in Opera Performance from the Boston and New England Conservatories as well as graduating from Vocal Performance programs at Boston University and Western Washington University. I have sung professionally with Boston Lyric Opera, Children’s Theater Companies, churches and synagogue. I love to premier new music and have toured in Athens, Greece. I have worked with small children as a Musikgarten teacher as well as touring artist residency programs which introduce children to music and theater in schools.

My students have had successful auditions for college opera programs and music theater productions They gain a larger vocal range and an easy, natural way of singing whether it is in a rock band or a church choir. Together we find the joy of singing as well as building a singing technique.

I have taught at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and local music studios as well as maintaining my private teaching practice.

Chuck recently moved to Portland, Oregon from Gainesville, Florida, where he was a staple of the music teaching and performing community for more than 25 years. Originally from Chicago, Chuck completed his BA in Music History and Masters of Music (MM) at the University of Florida. Chuck became obsessed with The Beatles when he began piano lessons at age 12. His first attempt at composing was actually improvising melodies over the ending chords to "Hey Jude". Along with playing Beatles tunes Chuck learned classic standards from a set of Reader's Digest Songbooks inherited from his grandmother.

Chuck has performed with classic rock, top 40, funk, R&B, and jazz groups, and has served as an opening act for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and legendary Texas bluesman Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Hello prospective students! My name is Julien. I am very excited for the opportunity to teach and share the wonders and joys of music with you. I have played the guitar seriously for 9 years and have taught for the past 5. I have been blessed with the experience of playing with some world class musicians, and was deeply inspired by the love, passion, creativity, and dedication these musicians bestowed upon me. My goal is to share these qualities with my students and help them find their own voice.

My passion is teaching music to students of all ages and all levels; sharing with them the joy of music. Music has the capacity to open up our hearts and minds to unknown worlds and cultures; thereby enabling us to express ourselves in unique and individualized ways. Music is not solely about learning the notes, or conquering Rachmaninoff or Grieg; each song is a melody of the heart, and should be navigated as such. I've been educated in jazz performance at Portland State University, I've studied classical voice for several years with a Julliard alum, and I have years of experience performing jazz, rock, and a little of everything else.

I knew I wanted to be a professional guitar player from the first time I picked up an electric guitar over 14 years ago. I started taking private lessons as soon as I got my first guitar, and without the crucial guidance and encouragement I received early on I certainly would not be the guitarist I am today, and that old guitar might even be collecting dust in a closet somewhere. Since I began teaching 8 years ago my goal has been to provide that same encouragement to beginning students and to help them realize that no matter what their ambitions are, they can be achieved with enough practice and they can have fun along the way!
