I am 35 years old, and have been a musician for over 25 years. I began, like many, playing in my middle school band. I attended a Performing Arts School throughout my high school years, where I studied Classical and Jazz Guitar, Music Theory, Ear Training, and many other facets of music. I also studied privately with various guitar instructors, most notable Kyle Hildenbrand, a Berklee grad and film scorer for Universal Studios. In college I also took education and psychology classes which have proven very helpful in my approach to teaching.

Samantha started taking piano lessons at age 3 from her mother, who was also a music teacher. I graduated with a B.A. in Professional Music from Boston's Berklee College of Music. When I first heard about Berklee, I too thought of warm and sunny Berkeley California and not the frigid winters in Boston. Berklee however, is respected world-wide as the musicians music college. I have been teaching piano and guitar for one year now. I am a recent graduate from Temple University with my Bachelors of Music, specializing in music theory and Classical piano. I have been playing piano for nearly 20 years, and guitar for 15 years. I have a strong Classical background, especially in piano, but I also have an extensive rock background.

When I take on a new student, I find out as much about their personal musical interests as I can. Though I typically use lesson book-based teaching for beginning students, I also use any other materials the student is interested in once they have some experience with their instrument. This includes Classical repertoire, or any pop or rock songs they would like to learn.

I have played with various gigging bands around Philadelphia and Central PA on guitar, keyboards, vocals, and drums. These bands include progressive rockers Igor's Egg, synth rock band Coup Couroux, and cover band Bombay Zoo.

Whether their longing is to simply enjoy guitar as a recreational pastime, or they desire (or have) a career in performance, I endeavor to help my students achieve their personal musical goals. Discipline is vital to progress, and without it, the experience would be shallow and unsatisfying. Hello, and thanks for reading my profile! I've had music in my life ever since the age of 3 when my parents, both pianists and organists, first sat me down at the piano. I joined the church choir at age 8 and began to play piano and organ at church a few years after that. Throughout middle and high school I studied piano with a Westminster Choir College instructor in New Jersey. I then went on to graduate from Millersville University with a B.A. in Spanish and French. After college I taught K-12 Spanish before staying home with our own children. And now for the past ten years I've worked as a church organist and choir director.

I really do enjoy working with children and teaching them how fun music can be! Every student has a unique way of learning, and I always strive to discover it so that all students get the most out of their lessons with me.
