Born in Omaha, NE, I have played bass for 22 years - and began teaching bass 12 years ago. I play and teach many contemporary musical styles, and have lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Denver, Colorado, Austin, Texas, and currently reside in San Diego, California.

I began studying Bass in 1987 under guidance of David Valentine and Jim Vaughn (both Principal Bassists with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra), and quickly began performing with the Colorado Springs Community Jazz Big Band, and other local artists and jazz swing small groups.

In the early 1990's and after moving to Denver, Colorado, I joined the Neil Haverstick Band which often featured popular area vocalists such as Charla Bevan and others. I started Piano when I was 8 years old. My siblings were taking lessons at that time and hearing them play it made me fall in love with Piano, therefore, my parents had me get started in taking lessons as well. I have been playing Piano for about 15 years now and it started to become part of my everyday life. I have had four different teachers for piano and they were all amazing teachers. One of my private piano teachers was a student of Iran’s most popular pianist and composer, Emanuel Malek Aslanian. I also had an amazing Piano instructor back in Iran who made me become an expert in techniques as well as enjoying the melodies. I mainly play and teach Classical music. I am 26 years old and moved out to California about 2 years ago from Wisconsin. I have been playing music mainly the guitar since I was 15 and fell in love with it ever since. I have been teaching students about music and how to play the guitar since I was 20 and have had great success in seeing many of my pupils still playing in bands today. I love to play all types of music from Rock and Roll to the Blues to Folk and also Modern Pop songs of today. I started playing guitar and bass in my early teen years because I just couldn't wait to see a live concert. I thought if I could play the songs myself, it would be just as good. Well, it turns out that playing music you love yourself is even better than seeing a concert. You can make your own concert everyday!
Since then I've been fortunate enough to work with a great deal of professional performers and to play many hundreds of successful live shows.

I began my musical studies when I was 8 years old on the clarinet. In my teens, I switched to the guitar. I received a degree in music from the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and subsequently, an education degree from the University of Toronto (Canada). I have spent many years in education in various areas, but my most relevant experience for tutoring math came over eight years coaching middle school math teachers In Los Angeles. My strength as a coach stemmed from the fact that I struggle with math myself. This has given me greater empathy for my students and allows me to connect better with them.


As mentioned above, my specialty is tutoring math through Algebra I.


I am not a math expert, but a learning expert who found the way math was often taught conflicted with how people best learn. Being good at math themselves, the teachers underestimated the confusion and eventual loss of confidence that some students experienced. And once a student thinks he or she is bad at math they become worse. Working with these teachers while also tutoring some of their students was satisfying because we all benefited from working together and overall their state test scores improved dramatically.

When I was an undergraduate student of Mathematics at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, I was hired as a T.A. for tutoring students of first year Calculus. The experience was inspiring, I knew then I wanted to be a professor and teach. After I got my degree I went on to pursue both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Sciences at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in Optimization and Numerical Analysis. Upon graduation, I returned to my country and started an academic career at Universidad Simón Bolívar.


Through the years I mainly taught Calculus, Pre Calculus and Optimization but I also tutored students in Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
