Aside from being mostly self-taught and playing drums since he could hold the pots and pans, Henri is an experienced, focused teacher and musician who really enjoys seeing students achieve their goals and desires musically. He has also studied privately with former Berklee Graduate Al Pahanish Jr (Powerman 5000), and former Capitol Records recording artist Morrison Moon. He is a goal-oriented individual with a versatile background and a relaxed, "let's have fun while we learn" attitude. Henri believes music should always be fun and inspiring for everyone, no matter what skill level. FUN is always the focus, because if you are not having fun, why are you doing it?
Henri also has years of experience touring both nationally and internationally with several award-winning Arizona-based performing groups (Dry River Yacht Club, decker., and The SunPunchers are the current projects), performing shows in 39 of the US States, as well as festival performances in 2012 in Canada (NXNE w/Flaming Lips, Raekwon, Of Montreal, Bad Religion) and Norway (Slottsfjell Music Festival w/New Order, Janalle Monae, Wolfmother, A-Trak, etc.) His past teaching and performing experiences have really helped shaped the musician he is today.
Aside from working as private lessons/class instructor and performer, Henri can also be seen teaching for Mesa Community College as an Adjunct Faculty in the Music and Business program, where he currently teaches MUC109 - Merchandising and the Law, and MUC210 - Concert and Touring Promotions. A life-long learner, Henri is always finding new experiences and new ways to connect with his students, as learning comes just as much from the student as it does the teacher. You can always find him around "the music."

I've been playing guitar since I wans 9 years old and teaching guitar since I was 14. I grew up playing in bands with friends. My parents would drive us (and a ton of equipment!) to wherever we were playing, which was sometimes 50 to 200 miles from home! I later did studio work and played as a solo entertainer. I also studied acting while in college, so being on stage and performing is very comfortable for me.
I have extensive experience in teaching both individuals and groups with regard to several different venues, including guitar, bass guitar, acting, public speaking, songwriting and studio recording.
I also provide a unique service that my students tell me is very helpful. I record instructions, or demonstrations, and email them to you - on the spot! This way you don't get home and wonder "Now how did that go?" or, " How was I able to do that?" You just open the email and listen to it – whenever you like.
Singing, Music Performance, Songwriting
No matter what stage you are at in your singing exploration, I can help empower you to let your voice be heard and have FUN in the process. :o)
--- What do I bring to the table, you ask? Well....
As an experienced singer songwriter and current front woman of an indie rock band, I bring a lot of real world vocal and performance experience to my students. Having a diverse musical history ranging from pop, r&b, punk, emo, 80's soft rock, to big band, classical, musical theater, and black gospel, I am able to understand and teach students within the style that they feel most passionate about.
I'm a huge believer in directly applying the techniques taught, so our lessons will consist of scales and understanding of the voice, but will always include song application on songs of your choice. I mean, after all, if you don't like the songs you're working on, you will have less motivation to practice and get better!!
--- What is my educational background?
I studied voice for four years at Grand Canyon University, graduating with a B.A. in Creative Arts with a Vocal Emphasis. But to be honest, I gained most of my vocal power and control after graduating by studying with vocal coaches of artists such as Natasha Bedingfield, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and Taylor Swift. Because of this personal experience, I incorporate many of the Speech Level Singing techniques, and have taught students from ages 4-52 over the last 10 years.
--- Nervous or struggling with stage fright?
I feel you and can help you with this! I battled stage fright for what seemed like forever, so I have a close understanding of students dealing with the frustrations of stage fright.
--- Looking for performance help?
Yep, I can help with that. I've been performing locally, nationally, and some internationally for many years. I've helped many students come out of their shell on stage!
--- What else am I about?
Well, along with teaching voice and playing gigs under my solo project and with my band Dearspeak, I'm also an instructor at The School of Rock, a singing princess character for kids birthday parties, a mentor and advocate for abuse recovery, and an occasional music substitute teacher for the Scottsdale district.
I absolutely love being able to inspire people to sing and give voice to the unique sound that we all have within us. It's a personal passion of mine to help others find their voice and the inner strength to let it be heard!
See you soon!

I have a Doctorate in Music Composition and Piano, and have taught piano for 15 years. My clients have included beginning to advanced students from age 5 to 65. I am passionate about music and look forward to meeting people who share that passion. I believe that making music adds depth and beauty to life, while cultivating creativity, observation, mental acuteness, and perseverance. It is among the most worthy goals in life, whether you aspire to become a professional musician or not. I highly recommend it. That's why I'm a teacher!

I am a cum laude graduate of BYU, with a Bachelor's of Music in guitar performance and am currently attending ASU as a Master's student in guitar performance. I have been playing the guitar for 16 years and teaching for 10. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country, and other styles of guitar. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer I was the Oregon State champion in their guitar competition for both 2005 and 2006. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in Spain and Mexico. As a performer of other styles I have played in many bands and have won high school battle of the bands competitions and recently placed 2nd in BYU's battle of the bands 2011. I was a regional finalist in Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" competition as well.
I really love spreading the knowledge I've learned over the years about the guitar, bass guitar, songwriting, music theory, and everything music related to my students. I find a huge sense of fulfillment in seeing my students understand and enjoy learning and making beautiful music. I have a high level of knowledge and skills that I am very willing to use to teach students from the most beginner to the most advanced. Former students of mine have achieved lofty goals ranging from making it into a music program at the college level to winning their school's talent show to being accepted into their school's jazz band.
