Learning how to play an instrument is one thing but learning how to perform with that instrument is a whole different world and I teach students how to make their instruments and themselves, live on stage so they really shine like the star they can really be

About Charles

I am an international recording artist and seasoned performer. I have been playing music since the early age of 8 yrs old. I have always been inspired by music and love to inspire others with music. Some of my accomplishments include putting an album out with Universal Records as a Nashville recording artist, having over 7 albums out internationally, and recording and playing with some of the biggest names in the music industry. I am a classically trained musician as well as an innovative and experienced teacher. Marty W. Chandler, AZ

Confidence, projection, microphone usage - all work together to ensure that my students' musical performances are top-notch. I conduct two recitals per year and am working to expand our performance opportunities in the community. Many of my students already sing in premier choir ensembles and/or bands. I 'press' my students with various different vocalizes and pieces to ensure that when the opportunity to perform comes - they're ready.

About Marty

Open up to your own unique voice. Play piano with energy and freedom.

"With singing, your body is your instrument. Helping you become all you can be as a performer is my number one goal. Protecting your voice is a close second as we work to strengthen your vocal range and the quality of your sound. As well, piano students will learn techniques that will speed up their comprehension of sight reading and/or improvisation. Teaching gives me an opportunity to energize my students and share with them historically proven techniques - as well as new ways of practicing and performing." - Marty

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Marty moved to the Phoenix, AZ area eight years ago. Marty has over 20 years of performing and teaching experience. She studied for three years at the ...

We love Marty. My daughter has been with her 2 1/2 years. There is a special relationship with my daughter and Ms. Marty that I never hear from any other teacher. Respect! I'm speaking of the respect that Ms. Marty shows her students. When she speaks to my daughter she treats her with such respect and kindness. Francesca will always have the skills Marty has taught her and continues growing and blossoming under her tutelage.

I really like Marty, she is a great teacher! We have been with her for over two years and she teaches my two older children. I appreciate that she takes a slightly different approach to each child based on their learning style and personality. She is patient yet demanding with the kids, and flexible with my needs and requests as a parent. It is clear she is knowledgeable and loves piano and music generally.

I teach musical performance for the instruments that I teach which are piano, voice, and guitar. I teach stage presence techniques such as stance or physical positioning, emotional expressiveness, eye contact, concert and recital etiquette, introductions of pieces, bowing, etc.

Karen’s recitals, showcasing 6 to 12 students each time, always thrill
me. Men, women, boys, & girls of all ages and various degrees of
achievement stand before their audience with confidence. They have
practiced, not only the pieces which they play, but showmanship, not
pushy or cocky, but polite and welcoming. They make eye contact and
smile; some invite the crowd to sing along on the choruses. Even the
1st year students exude confidence.

The crowd returns those smiles, along with cheers and clapping. One
can tell that Karen has kindly and persistently shown and encouraged
each student. If any show fear, she does not chide; she accompanies
them in the performance and nods approval as they continue. I watch
that fear subside. They are then met with handshakes and pats on the
back. Next time, they will be even more eager to share the pieces that
they worked on and not expect criticism.

Karen picks a theme and arranges guitar, piano, and voice selections,
intermingled into a program that leaves a person well entertained and
planning to come back next time. I am not related to any of the
participants and have no obligation to be at the recitals. I love the
music, the talent, and the progress that I see and hear. You, too,
will be glad you came.

I am 73 years old and have always wanted to play a guitar, Karen is a member of our church choir and had mentioned that she teaches guitar and piano. I asked if I could take lessons this past June and she agreed to teach me. I am so happy that Karen is teaching me to play a guitar, I did not think I would ever be able to do that but I am learning thanks to her great teaching skills, patience and fantastic knowledge of music. She is very encouraging and teaches on my level of understanding never above my head. I would recommend Karen to anyone that has a desire to learn to play a guitar she is perfect for me!

About Jaxon

I am a graduate of ASU's guitar program, where I got my Master's Degree in Music- emphasis in Guitar Performance. I have been playing the guitar for 19 years and teaching for 10. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country, and other styles of guitar. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer I was the Oregon State champion in their guitar competition for both 2005 and 2006 and won 4th prize at the Sierra Nevada International Classical Guitar Competition 2014. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in Spain and Mexico. As a ...

It goes without saying that Jaxon is an outstanding teacher - I think that anyone who studies with him would agree. Both Jaxon's verbal instruction and his playing demonstrations are clear and well articulated. His ability to select interesting repertoire seems limitless, for even an advanced student such as myself. He will guide you with techniques and tips while also keeping in consideration your own interests and goals.

I started playing the classical guitar for just fun years ago, and lived in such remote areas that finding a teacher was impossible. As fortune had it, I moved to Tempe and hooked up with Jaxon through TakeLessons.com. He's a great instructor that is patient and won't ever make you feel bad about not having time to practice. He didn't immediately show off his amazing guitar playing ability, but instead directed all his attention at me, the student. His flexible teaching style helped me translate the music knowledge I already had onto the classical guitar. If you follow his methods, you'll be amazed at how fast you improve! I would highly recommend Jaxon to anyone even remotely thinking about playing classical guitar music.

BEST GUITAR TEACHER EVER!!

I have been playing neuvo flamenco for several years and I have had several guitar instructors. None of them come close to Jaxon. Most of my teachers were very good guitar players but not great at teaching - Jaxon is not only a great guitarist but a fantastic teacher. He has the ability to look at every aspect of my guitar playing (technique, posture, composition, etc) and greatly improve it. I highly recommend him to any level of guitarist. He will make you a better guitarist!

Louis Armstrong Jazz Award Recipient. Previous students include award winning musicians as well as international performers. I have been performing saxophone for ten years, and teaching it for 4. I want you to get the most out of your lessons with me, so we will focus on any specific areas you are trying to improve at. Within the first couple of lessons, we will tackle these areas, and you will hopefully see dramatic improvement in your performance. As our lessons go on, we'll look to see what specific needs and goals you have, as well as look to make you a better musician overall.

About Dylan

Hello, my name is Dylan Zenner. I am a music education major at Arizona State University, and I have been teaching both musically, and academically for 2011. It is my belief no two students learn the same way, and that is why I like to take an individualized approach to each of my students. I firmly believe that you are capable of learning anything you set your mind to, if it is presented in a way that you understand. I try very hard to get to know my students, and the way they learn best so I can give them the most effective learning experience possible.

Although I am a musician, I have previously studied electrical engineering at a university level, and am fully capable of tutoring in any subject at a high school level. I am a very strong mathematician, as well as writer, and I would ...
