Lesson Details

The first lesson is all about learning what the student wants out of the experience and what I expect out of the student. I am not a strict teacher, but I do communicate what needs to be done to become a good musician.
Usually I will split the lesson up into two sections. The first will focus on the theoretical aspects of the guitar or bass, and the second part will be all applying the theoretical aspects in a creative way. For example, for 20 minutes we will work out of a book studying ... chord charts and scales, then for the next 20 minutes you will write a song with the chords you learned. It's all about knowing how to apply what you learn and have fun.

I have been playing bass guitar for 20 years, guitar for 12 years and piano for about 5 years. I am an elementary school music teacher at Merryhill School. Have been teaching music professionally for 7 years. 5 years at Merryhill and 2 at Phoenix Elementary. I have a BA in Music with an option in Recording Arts from CSU Chico.
