I teach traditional violin (beginners through conservatory level) ages 5 thru adult. I also coach chamber music, as well as the standard orchestral repertoire. I m serving on the professional orchestras, such as West Michigan, Battle Creek and Traverse City Symphonies, so if you're preparing for an orchestra audition or applying to a music school, I can help get you to a more competitive level!

About

I graduated from the Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague where I received the Master of Arts in Violin Performance and Literature degree (M.M.), which is the terminal performance degree offered in the Czech Republic. Before completing my studies at the Academy, I studied violin at the Prague Conservatory of Music.
As a violinist I have a wide list of competition and performance credits, including first prizes at the Kocian International Violin Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí and the ... Beethoven’s International Solo and Chamber Competitions in Hradec nad Moravicí, in the Czech Republic.
A frequent soloist with the leading orchestras in my native country and abroad, I have performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the West-Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmony, the Orquestra Sinfónica Simon Bolívar de Venezuela, and the Solisti di Praga Chamber Orchestra.
Since 1988 when I was chosen to represent the Czech Republic at the International violin festival in Caracas, Venezuela, with a peformance of the Dvorak Violin Concerto, I have given concerts in many countries in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, including venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Izumi Hall and Phoenix Hall in Osaka, Tsuda Hall, Suntory Hall and Opera City Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York, Museum of Art in Cleveland, St. Lawrence Center for the Arts in Toronto, Seoul Art Center, Prague Spring Festival, Festival de Luberon (France), Beethoven Hall in Bonn, Herkules Saal in Munich, as well as at Hong Kong, Montreal, Vienna, Salzburg, Barcelona, Helsinki, Brussels, and Taipei, to name just a few.
An active chamber musician, I was first violinist in the Czech Nonet and from 1995-2001, was first violinist in the Stamic String Quartet, and appeared with guitarist Pepe Romero, cellist Antonio Meneses, pianist Antonín Kubálek, violinist Josef Suk, members of the Talich Quartet, Pražák Quartet, Kocian Quartet, and many others.
I have recorded over twenty compact discs for various record companies (Supraphon, Panton-Bonton, Lotos, Matouš, KoArt, Bayer Records-Germany, ASV-England, J.J.Enterprise, Centaur Records) which range from solo pieces to chamber music, including world premiere recordings of Jan Krtitel Vanhal, Jan Josef Rösler, Pavel Vranický, Jan Klusák or Bohuslav Martinu. Most recent are Czech Music for Oboe and Violin with oboist Marlen Vavrikova, Antonín Dvorák, Bedrich Smetana and Leos Janácek works for Violin and Piano, and world premiere recording of Pavel Borkovec complete Violin Sonatas. My recording of the complete quartets of Alois Hába (4 CDs) earned an award from the Czech Musical Council.
