Singing with Vanessa S.

At age fifteen Vanessa was accepted at the Veracruz Music Conservatory in Xalapa Mexico. After two years of study there, at the age of seventeen, she went on to pursue her studies in music at the Malatesta Centro de Lingua in Rimini Italy for their summer program. In the fall she started her senior year of high school, studying voice at Idyllwild Art's Academy in Southern California. After she graduated high school, she got accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she majored in vocal performance. Returning to the west coast, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sound Arts at Expression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California. She is now doing a vocal coach teacher training in Nashville Tennessee. *** Lesson Details *** During our lessons, we start with physical stretches, breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups. We work on support, vocal resonation, voice projection, vibrato, diction and many other technical aspects of the voice. These techniques are then applied to the songs we learn. Different techniques are used for different genres of music. Together we choose music my students are passionate about. I do a lot of listening at first to hear what my students sound like; what they need to work on and what I would like to bring out in them. Every student is different. My teaching approach is based on what each individual wants and needs.
