In voice I specialize in classical and commercial singing. In piano I am specialized in classical and commercial playing.

Lesson Details

I am a very fair teacher. My approach to the lessons is to teach the student the material in the most effective way possible. I am strict with my students when it comes to practicing. If the student does not practice daily the techniques introduced in the lessons will not become second nature and the student's progress will be diminished. I like to think of myself as a balanced teacher. I like to have fun in the lessons. Following are two paragraphs that will give a general overview of ... the two types of lessons I offer, voice and piano.

Vocal Lessons: My voice lessons are somewhat structured. We will begin by vocally warming up. This will help the student to be optimally prepared to tackle each lesson. I am a firm believer that in any style of singing nothing can prepare you more than a solid foundation in the techniques of classical literature. That is why, for the first 3-6 months the student will be taught the ins and outs of classical vocal technique. After the instructor feels like the student has a firm technical foundation the student will then branch out into the genre that they wish to pursue.

Piano Lessons: I apply my same philosophy to piano lessons as I did with voice lessons. No matter what genre of music the student wishes to pursue a firm understanding of classical techniques is paramount. That is why, as with my voice lessons, the first 3-6 months of piano lessons will focus on classical music. Depending on the skill level of the student the student will work through a lesson book that will help solidify the concepts taught by the instructor.

One universal aspect to my lessons is the importance of learning music theory. That is why in either type of lesson their will be a portion of time dedicated to music theory. This allows the student to begin to understand music in a more dynamic way.

Hi! My name is Tyler and I live in Nashville TN. I am a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University. I graduated with a degree in Music Education with a vocal performance minor. I love teaching and playing music. I feel like I can benefit students by being a teacher who is kind, fun and wants to see the student succeed!
