Specialties

Opera voice and Classical singing is most certainly my strongest area of instruction but I also love teaching musical theater, pop voice and piano! I can also teach music theory, ear training and sight-reading. Furthermore, I can teach acting within the context of singing. It is important to note too, that music lessons with me not only serve to teach the student about music, but to help them grow as a person to love and appreciate music for life!

Lesson Details

I specialize in teaching Classical voice but enjoy working with vocalists who sing in a variety of genres. I also love working with beginning piano students to learn the basics of piano, while learning to truly enjoy music!

The first portion of a voice lesson is focused on vocal exercises intended to build healthy, beautiful tone, efficient breathing practices, proper posture, vocal flexibility and resonance. The length of this portion of the lesson is dependent on the student's needs and ... skill set.

The second portion of the lesson is spent working our new technique into the student's songs. The ability to bridge the gap between vocal exercises and the application in the student's repertoire is one of the most challenging skills to build. Students are welcome to bring pieces they are working on in choir, church, competitions, community theater or festivals into their lessons. If the student does not already have assigned repertoire, I will assign songs and arias suited to the student's age, skill set and voice type.

My advice to young musicians is to practice as much as possible! This will reinforce what we study in the lesson and help you to become the best singer or pianist you can be, as quickly as possible. I am so excited to work with you and help you to grow!

I am a passionate performer and teacher who can help you or your child to find your inner artist, as well! In voice lessons, I will take your natural talent and help to refine it to perform in your preferred genre, whether it be Pop, Broadway or Classical. In piano, I will help the beginning student learn the fundamentals of good piano playing technique, while having fun and developing a strong love of music.

I was born and raised in the Central Florida area. As a child I always enjoyed ... music, spending my free time playing piano and singing in choirs. I attended Winter Park High School where I began cultivating the love of music into her craft.

Having been awarded a vocal scholarship, I spent her freshman year of undergraduate at the University of South Florida, studying under Annetta Monroe and performing with USF Chamber Singers and Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. I finished my undergraduate degree in Music Education at the University of Central Florida, studying with Priscilla Bagley. While there, I was active in Sigma Alpha Iota, Golden Key Honor Society, Collegiate Music Educators’ National Conference and Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Once back in Central Florida, I also sang professionally in the Orlando Opera Chorus. In December 2008, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education and minor in Spanish. Throughout my undergraduate study, I taught private voice lessons, building beautiful healthy technique while cultivating professionalism in my students.

After receiving my degree, I spent a semester teaching chorus at Chain of Lakes Middle School. While a thoroughly rewarding experience, I chose to return to higher education to pursue a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. Again, I was awarded a vocal talent scholarship and attended the University of Miami, studying with Dr. Nobleza Pilar and achieving my Master's degree in Vocal Performance. I presently study with former opera star, Carol Kirkpatrick and can be heard cantoring at St. Margaret Mary Church in Winter Park, FL and as Claudia in the upcoming production of "Nine" with Moonlight Players in Clermont, FL.

I have won several prestigious awards including UCF Outstanding Female Music Student and Sigma Alpha Iota Talent awards. My summer program engagements also include the Tyrolean Opera Program and the Italian Operatic Experience. Moreover, I am a founding member of the holiday quartet, Belles and Beaux.

My varied experiences allow me to be both a fabulous voice teacher and a communicative and riveting performer. I look forward to working with new, motivated students with TakeLessons.
