I can help you achieve your drumming goals, whether it is to simply enjoy playing your favorite song, make the drum line, win all district/all state competition, earn a significant scholarship to college, or play "Twist and Shout" in your wedding, I have done it all. I wrote and published a drumset method book that teaches students how to play solos, fills, beats, and improvise. I earned a bachelor's of music performance, theory, and composition from the College of William and Mary and have over 15 years of teaching experience. I teach all the major kinds of drumming: drumset, marching and concert snare drum, mallets, timpani, and auxiliary percussion. *** Lesson Details *** I believe that students learn the best when they are having fun. I do everything possible to provide a positive learning environment that will result in a lifetime of music appreciation. I adopt my teaching style to meet the students' goals. If you are taking lessons for pleasure, I will be more laid back while still challenging you to progress. If you have a competitive standard, I will prepare you to compete at the highest level. I also believe that you are learning the most when you are playing, so I have one drum set in my studio (Mapex Saturn Pro 7 piece with double bass). I will also write solos, duets etc. to help you develop a deeper understanding of technique and concepts. After 3 - 6 months of lessons with me, you can expect to be able to play along with several of your favorite songs as well as play classic songs with great drum beats.
