Singing with Tina L.

Tina is a second-generation Jazz singer. Her mother was a Capitol Records Recording Artist during the Big Band era. Tina began touring as a back-up singer with international artists Vikki Carr, Charo, and Barry Manilow at the age of twenty-one. She has guest performed with the incredible jazz musicians Buddy Colette and Joe Sample. You can hear Tina singing on various commercials and movie soundtracks. Tina, a native of Southern California has been educated by some of the finest jazz teachers in the Los Angeles area. As a result, Tina has learned the art of passing along her professional experience while helping students find their own unique voice. Tina is currently working on her Masters in Musicology at California State University, Long Beach. *** Lesson Details *** Tina uses her time wisely with her students. They will learn proper breath support and control in order to have the freedom to sing any kind of music they enjoy singing. Tina is very focused on helping students understand their uniqueness realizing that musical creativity cannot be manufactured-it comes from the heart! In addition, the students will learn mike technique, the art of auditioning, and gain a musical knowledge which will assist them in their musical endeavors. *** Studio Equipment *** Living Room: open space, piano, chairs, room for parents to sit sofa *** Specialties *** Teaching students how to sing properly and find their own singing style. For acting, I teach students how to be natural and let their own personality come through the characters they portray.
