I'm surrounded by music and musicians everyday! I spend most of my hours recording musicians in my studio, but get the most benefit out of teaching students there. I Give my students the opportunity to not only learn to master their instrument, but also the chance to learn how to be a studio musician. Students of mine have the opportunity to record any of their lessons (that we hold in my studio) as i feel most students never get the opportunity to hear themselves play. I graduated from Ball State University under the instruction of Hans Sturm, former President of the International Society of Bassists. *** Lesson Details *** I feel that all good playing comes from the basics. Without a strong foundation there isn't anyway to build upward. Emphasizing the fundamentals, I feel, allows for faster progress and an easier understanding of the instrument. For those already versed in the fundamentals I tend to focus more on music theory and improvisation or song writing. In our lessons we can cover many styles: Classical, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Metal, Folk, Country, Jam. etc. In my lessons I can any of the following cover: Hand Technique Bow Technique Music Theory: Sight Reading, Reading Music, Song Writing, and Form Analysis Improvisation Bass Lines Slap Technique Finger Technique Solo Works Orchestral Works Piano Basics Microphone placement Studio Etiquette Recording Techniques MIxing and Mastering *** Studio Equipment *** I have all the necessary equipment (microphones, preamps, etc.) to record my students at my studio location and my home location. I record with Pro Tools 8. I have and can teach the following software: Pro Tool 8 Logic 8 Reason Massive MaxMSP *** Travel Equipment *** I have all the necessary equipment except a piano, If the student is interested in piano lesson, they must own, or be willing to rent a 88 note keyboard. *** Specialties *** Classical, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin, Metal.
