I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. With over 15 years of experience, in both piano and voice, I've had to opportunity to perform, both domestically and internationally, with such great acts as Peter Nero and The Philly Pops, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and many others. I served as lead singer, pianist, and co-songwriter for a number of independent bands covering numerous genres including, but not limited to, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Acoustic, and A Capella.

Since moving to Washington DC, I've immersed myself within the local music community playing a handful of group and solo acts. I currently maintain a home music studio well equipped with musical instruments and music technology. I'm constantly practicing, writing, and recording to improve myself as an artist.

My teaching style is unique and individualized to each student. I set personalized goals to make every lesson a success, and I push my students to get the most out of themselves just like I do myself. I'm always enthusiastic and humor driven to create a personable learning environment for students of any age. Music is my life, and I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to share my greatest passion with the hope that my students, too, will fall in love with music!

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson environment is laid back and stress-free. I like my students to feel inspired and encouraged as they begin, and/or continue, their music education. I introduce fun and innovative ways to build students' musicianship and creativity while retaining classic methods to develop strong technique and proper performance and practice habits.

For beginners, we'll be exploring the basics of either piano, or voice, while focusing on proper technique, basic theory, and a solid skill set. Within 3-6 months, my students are able to read music and understand the language of it.

For intermediate-advanced, we'll focus on building musicianship and skill sets by furthering studies in music theory, varying styles of repertoire, proper techniques that will greatly improve your piano and/or voice abilities, songwriting, improvisation, and live performance skills. We can also cover the basics of recording so you not only have tangible evidence of your improvement over time, but the know-how to create your own music!

I ask that my students come prepared to every lesson with the motivation and commitment to learn something new each week! Lessons are a fun and creative way to discover yourself as an artist and a person, so let's get started!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent and Inspiring Teacher I feel very fortunate to have connected with Tim to be my vocal instructor. Tim is courteous, professional, enthusiastic, encouraging, and a true subject matter expert. His knowledge extends beyond vocal study broadly to music theory and to performance training; all skills which must coalesce within a student to create a competent vocal performer. That is what's happening with me under Tim's instruction. Tim is keeping track of my vocal range which is steadily increasing, and I am hearing the results of my voice as its quality is honed to ever finer skill levels. In addition to vocal tone and quality, proper and song-appropriate diction is analyzed and adjusted, as well as breathing, posture, and projection; all while being encouraged to remember to put my own signature on a song. I am being taught not only proper methods of singing, but a new and far deeper appreciation for the art of singing as a whole. Thank you Tim. November 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic teacher! I cannot recommend Timothy enough. He is a wonderful, supportive teacher who is always encouraging, even when the student feels they aren't performing their best. He was able to tailor our lessons to match my skill level (i.e. to match the fact that I had musical experience, but not singing experience). An excellent teacher! September 2, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tim has been wonderful! My 11 year old daughter currently takes voice lessons from Tim and we are very pleased. In the first day, she learned that she has a two octave range and how to do vocal warm-ups (says her tone deaf mother!) Tim is professional, courteous and warm. We are 5 lessons in and very pleased. Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall I had a great experience I think Tim is a great instructor. He clearly sees my enthusiasm and also my limits. He pushes me to learn faster. I really enjoy his way of teaching. It is great that he treats me as a student while teaching new things, and later as a colleague while I am practicing (for instance he plas the duets with me) December 8, 2012
