The thing about singing well regardless of genre -- classical, jazz, Broadway, pop, country -- is that it is all based on the one thing, and that one thing is a solid technique. Having a 20-year career as a performing classical singer, my knowledge of classical music is more extensive than, say, my knowledge of country. Lesson Details

Each of your lessons with me is tailored to what your goals are. We'll work on proper breathing, good tone production, and confident performance technique. I use several effective vocal exercises to develop these techniques, and I will help to guide you in making good choices in repertoire that you wish to work on.

Would you like to maximize the potential for your child or for yourself to develop as a vocalist and as an artist? Why not learn from a seasoned professional? I am a professional singer, having performed over the past 20 years with opera companies, orchestras, and theater companies across the United States and in Europe. I love music and I love performing. What I also l love, in fact am passionate about, is helping others to find the richness that comes from learning about music and about ... performing. I love seeing that sparkle in the eye when one of my students masters that tough song. I love celebrating with a student when he or she gets that vocal scholarship to college, or makes All-State Chorus, or gives a brilliant recital!
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia, and have also spent two summers studying at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. In addition I spent two years apprenticing with Florida Grand Opera in Miami and one season apprenticing with Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, NY.
I have sung leading roles with numerous opera companies across the country, including New York City Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Washington National Opera, Atlanta Opera, New York Opera Project, Minnesota Opera, Arizona Opera, Hawaii Opera Theater, and Opera Theater of Saint Louis, among many others. I have performed as soloist with orchestras in Atlanta, New York, Birmingham, Anchorage, Flagstaff, upstate New York, and in Paris, France; Chartres, France; Graz, Austria; and Maribor, Slovenia. I've also begun to branch out into musical theater in cities like Atlanta, Toledo, and Shreveport.
I'm certainly not only interested in opera and classical music. I love jazz and rock and pop and Broadway. One thing I've learned from singing everywhere from on stage at Lincoln Center to the neighborhood karaoke venue is that regardless of the genre, the basic technique is the same! I have students who would love to perform on the world's stages. Some, however, would prefer to make their way on Broadway. Some want to sharpen their talents to become the next "American Idol". The great thing about singing at a very high level is that regardless of the type of music, the basics are the same. I can help you or your child develop to the greatest potential. And with a solid technique, you will be able to perform even when you may not be at your best!
