About Me

Miss Tammy Yi is a violinist, composer and conductor in Los Angeles, CA. She received her Bachelors of Music in violin performance with a Deans Merit as well as the competitive String Merit Scholarship at Azusa Pacific University. She was also the recipient of the Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Drake Smetz Endowed Scholarship, where she earned her Masters with a teaching credential in Music Education at the University of Southern California.

Ms. Yi has eight years of experience in teaching general ... music, band, choir, symphony orchestra, jazz band and classroom violin instruction in elementary schools. She has also assisted Christine Demore (Jordan Middle School in Burbank) and was invited to perform a duet with violinist Julie Gigante of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. After teaching private violin instruction for eight years in her own studio in Chino and Pasadena, she designed a curriculum for violin instruction incorporating all methodologies of string pedagogy and is excited to develop a strong music education program at Heritage Oak Private Education.

Tammy Yi has performed with top-tier conductors such as Eduard Topchjan (principal conductor of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra), Sean Newhouse (Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and an on stage production directed by Chip Hurd (Director of Disney’s Hannah Montana), Kim Fields (Facts of Life), Paula Washington (wife of Denzel Washington), and cast members of Grey’s Anatomy. She continues to perform and compose music to enhance music education. Miss Yi holds a California K-12 music credential and is member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society.
