Tamara studied music at the University of South Florida where she received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance and a Master's degree in Percussion Performance. She has been teaching privately since 1998. She works very hard to foster good relationships with her students and their parents because she truly believes that good relationships are extremely important to having success in private lessons. She tailors lessons to each student's learning style, needs and personal goals so that they can achieve their full potential. Many of her students continue to play and enjoy music after high school and some pursue degrees of their own. Her goal is first and foremost to make sure her students continue to love music. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are taught in a very relaxed environment. However, sacrifices are not made in terms of technique, reading or music making. The expectation is always for students to be the best they can be. Usually, there is a lot of learning and laughter during lessons. *** Studio Equipment *** I have a 5 piece Roland Electronic drum set. I can listen to students play along to songs as well as exercises with ease. Sometimes parents like to listen too! I also have a 5 octave marimba, hand drums and accessories. *** Travel Equipment *** To clarify, I am not able to travel to students at this time. If I am able in the future, I will change the availability on my calendar. *** Specialties *** Concert/Orchestral Percussion, Marching Percussion, Drumset, Music Theory, Audition Preparation

5-Star Teacher I began taking percussion lessons with Tamara as a high school sophomore. I had played in marching band before that, but until then, had not studied any solo percussion instruments. I had never even held a four-mallet marimba grip before. Over the course of the next three years, under Tamara's instruction, I made it into All-State Band and Orchestra two years in a row, was principle of All-County Band two years in a row, completed two advanced four-mallet marimba solos (along with several snare drum and timpani etudes), and auditioned and was accepted into three percussion programs at esteemed colleges. None of this would have been possible without Tamara's incredible lessons. She taught me not only technique, but musicianship. She is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met, not only in terms of classical percussion, but world music, drumset, marching percussion, etc. The list could go on and on. She is always able to explain every question clearly, leaving no stone unturned. Above all else, Tamara's tactfulness and consideration for others sets her apart from other teacher's I've studied under. She meets all problems with thoughtful solutions, always sensitive to every thing and everyone involved. Even today, four and a half years after our first lesson together, Tamara will be the first person I turn to if I have a question, whether it be about percussion, the music business, or life in general. She is my first recommendation for anyone in need of a percussion teacher.

Tamara Tamara is extremely professional and is one of the best teachers I have ever worked with. She can take the most novice of players and transform them into incredible musicians. Whether you want to study drum set, snare drum, or concert percussion, Tamara is the person to go to. She goes above and beyond to make sure each student is successful, essentially, giving you more bang for your buck. Being one of Tamara's students in high school, I can say Tamara is one of, if not the best, teachers I have ever had.
