I've been playing musical instruments for 35 years. As a child I started playing the trumpet, then other brass instruments. That love for music carried on into college, where I started singing for the first time. I loved performing, and developed a deep desire to get better in every aspect. So I started taking voice and piano lessons. Though I got a degree in something completely different, music was my preference and I started leading music programs full-time at churches. It was there that I saw an opportunity to teach others how to sing and play. I picked up the guitar so I can lead our more modern worship services and began teaching that, as well. I was given many opportunities to lead music and perform all over the country and all the while, I kept honing my craft. I decided to go back to school for a second Master's degree in vocal performance. There I learned all about the anatomy of the voice, how to use it properly and to teach others to perform at their very best. I did a great deal of piano performance along the way and applied that style to all the lessons I teach. I've had students as young as 4 and as old as 77. It is never too early or too late to begin learning. I am extremely passionate about music and performance and will pass that spirit along to you, at whatever level you play and in whatever style you prefer. *** Lesson Details *** I'm a laid back teacher. You are paying for the time. If you want to spend that time learning one thing, I will pick up on that. If you are motivated and practice throughout the week, you will move along briskly and will become very proficient in a timely fashion. Because I teach music theory along the way, and because I know most people want to learn how to play "something useful" in the first couple weeks, I can get most people strumming or accompanying themselves on the piano in as little as two weeks! Vocalists will learn proper technique and will see an instant improvement in their tone, breathing, and posture. I also teach them how to use their voice to sing in harmony, as well as a lead instrument. *** Studio Equipment *** studio: piano, guitar amps, seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** I will provide the curriculum.
