My Specialties
I have several different approaches to teaching. It all depends on the level of the student and comes down to practicality and effective ways of presenting material so it can be remembered, processed and developed further. I use tablature for beginners simply out of practicality. I prefer to move to more hands on approaches with ear-training and note-reading as soon as possible to allow a more universal way of learning instruments and music that allow the student to see beyond the scope of the guitar, mandolin or any instrument in question. I perform primarily acoustic guitar, heavily rooted in fiddle tunes and bluegrass repertoire. I grew up playing heavy metal and am very well versed in the styles and techniques that pertain to heavy metal. Both through Lexington High School and Berklee College of Music, I've played in several different jazz ensembles and am very well versed in the theory and idiom of jazz rooting from swing up through more modern interpretations of the idiom.
My Education

fun and knowledgeable!
stash is an excellent teacher. he's super enthusiastic, patient, and supportive, even when your playing sounds terrible! but at the same time, he won't let you get away with anything; he definitely encourages you to bring your best, even if you're unsure of your ability. he clearly knows his stuff and is very willing to work with you to accomplish whatever music goals you have.

Great teacher
Stash is the perfect music teacher. He's laid back if that's your style but is also able to push you if you have a strong desire to learn. He has been teaching me a lot about music theory on the guitar and although I'm only 4 lessons in, he's already helped me out so much. He plays in a couple of bands and it's always interesting to hear what his life as a musician is like.
