Specialties

Latin, Jazz, Rock, and Metal are the genres that I specialize in. Stick control is one of the biggest things I teach. Stamina, practice, double bass, reading music, counting, timing, set up, listening, writing, and having a great time learning drums!

About

Bio –

Greetings everyone, my name is Simon. I am a drummer, percussionist, live performer, song writer, and music teacher. I have actively been playing musical instruments and live shows since the age of four. Growing up in a highly encouraged artistic musical environment provided me with a great love and passion for learning and playing music. As time went on I focused on learning instruments such as the guitar, bass guitar, piano, trumpet, French horn, voice/singing, various percussive ... instruments, steel drums, xylophone, and the drums. Currently I drum in a few different bands in the northwest area. I also offer my services as a session drummer for live performance and recording purposes. I proudly endorse Axis percussion and previously have endorsed Medicine Man drums and percussion. Learning and creating music through drumming has been one of the greatest things in my life. Drums inspire the heart beat of life and support all other musical instruments. I look forward teaching and working with all current and future students.

Education –

My first music teachers were my parents. They both were professional musicians playing live in orchestras and symphonies for many years. They taught me how to play the piano as well as understanding music theory and song writing at an early age. My future education included concert band, marching band, tribal drumming, and taking private drum lessons for the styles of Latin, and jazz from pro drummers. I have played thousands of live shows with a variety of bands locally and on an international level. I have also had a fair amount of touring experience as well. During college I studied computer information systems and furthered my interest in Latin drumming. My origins are from the southwest so Latin music has always been a big influence in all of my musical journeys. My learning experience has been just as rewarding as my teaching experience. Music is infinite and we will always be able to learn something new from it!
