Specialties

I keep the lessons centered around the students interests. Within that, I incorporate elements of ear training, harmony, interval recognition, reading, and important skills regarding being a competent musician. I am a fan of the Kodaly method; my style of teaching uses aspects of this method, instilling a passion for music within the student.

The styles of music that I specialize in playing and teaching are funk, jazz, rock, and pop. I try to choose songs that are challenging, but ... are easy enough for the student to master.

I design a specialized program for each student based on your skill level and learning style.
I record each lesson so you don’t miss anything--I put these recordings (as well as assignments, songs, exercises, etc.) into an individual student folder on my website for easy internet accessibility.
I break down Berklee style theory in the easiest way possible.
I teach tab, note and chart reading.
I will train your ears to be able to learn new music faster.
I will teach you proper technique ... and facility on the instrument.
I teach multiple styles from punk, to country, to jazz, and suggest bands and artists that you may like based on what your interests are.

About

With 12 years of musical experience (3 years of teaching experience), I have released an album of original compositions (and am currently preparing a comedy album for release in the winter of this year), have performed on the bass guitar in front of thousands of people on stages spanning from California to Boston playing styles spanning from lounge jazz to progressive video game music metal, and have graduated Berklee College of Music as a scholarship student with high honors (focus in ... performance and education), but I'm just getting started...
