Hi there, my name is Sharon M. I have loved music all my life, however, over the last 25 years my passion and joy has been teaching piano. Beginning my musical training at a young age it was continued through college and beyond. I performed and accompanied throughout the United States and Europe for many years. Following college (Seattle Pacific University - Music Education/Piano), I received specialized teacher training and certification to teach the Robert Pace Piano Approach (Teachers College, Columbia University). I also have specialized training in teaching all styles of Improvisation with the author of "Pattern Play," Forrest Kinney. My students are excited to discover and create their own music from the very first lesson. At your lessons you will learn how to read print music, play by ear, create your own music, and much more. The music is interesting, fun to play (never boring) and easy to understand. You will be surprised how fast you will progress! All styles, Classical to New Contemporary, are available musical choices. I recognize that each student is unique and has different goals and aspirations so each student's lesson is unique and carefully prepared to inspire and create curiosity to make reaching the goal easy, fun and exciting. My goal is: To discover and encourage each student's musical potential; to nurture and inspire creativity, musical artistry and a love of music; and to develop a strong musical foundation that provides the tools, confidence and enthusiasm to independently learn, create and enjoy music for a lifetime. I look forward to helping you reach your musical goals! *** Lesson Details *** The studio has a comfortable, relaxed setting where you will receive positive encouragement to reach your musical goals. You will quickly discover how fun and easy it is!! Whether big or small every accomplishment is celebrated. No one is ever too young or too old to experience the joy that music brings. *** Studio Equipment *** The studio is professionally equipped with a Kawai piano, staff lined whiteboard, music library, and many other teaching materials. There is a separate waiting room. You will need to have a piano (keyboard) at home for practicing and provide some lesson books/flashcards. *** Specialties *** Using the unique Pace Approach to piano instruction, which was discovered and developed by the world-renown dynamic educator, Dr. Robert Pace of Teachers College, Columbia University, who is credited with having revolutionized the art of piano teaching, you will enjoy learning to read, play, and write music in all styles and keys. But what becomes even more fun is to find your own creativity through improvisation, composing, and arranging pieces that you already know andlove. You will become excited to discover that you have your own personal music to share with the world.
