Shanshan W. has been an aspiring performing pianist ever since her decision to study music as an undergraduate. She has received BM and MM degrees at both the Eastman School of Music and New England Conservatory respectively. Fascinated with challenging techniques and fast passages even at an early age, she desires to share her experience as well as insights with her students to help them overcome various technical difficulties. With a dedication to integrity and passion for her work, Mrs. W. seeks to enrich her students with life insights as well as a deeper understanding and appreciation of music. *** Lesson Details *** No one student is created the same, and therefore my curriculum for each would be varied accordingly. Through knowing them more specifically as individuals, I hope to understand their individual strengths and work on their weaknesses. These characteristics may be inherent as well as learned. Some students will be learning from a formal material that move forward step by step while others may benefit more from a spontaneous choice of music from varied range of styles and composers. For those that are starting from scratch, taking the time to lay a firm foundation is essential while for others, who perhaps have had some experience playing the piano but is lacking in certain skills or aspects, would need a different approach in choosing their repertoire as well as more specifically assigned exercises. In the end, it is my hope and expectation that each student will gain the skill set they need, to be able to experience the freedom of expressiveness through music, that they will develop a genuine appreciation of the classical genre and have deeper understanding of how it speaks to them personally. *** Specialties *** Classical/ any periods
