Now teaching singing and acting lessons online as well to anyone in the country!

Serena is originally from the New York City area and has been acting, singing, dancing, and playing piano since she was young. As a teenager, she attended the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. While she was there, she realized her love of teaching when she tutored struggling piano and music theory students.

In Chicago, her credits include: The Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, Jersey Shore: The Musical, Jack and the Beanstalk, Theatre of Women 6, Pirates of Penzance, Change the Night Owl, and her own solo cabaret "Should I Be Sweet?"

Other notable credits include Tony N' Tina's Wedding, The Taming of the Shrew, Bat Boy, Les Miserables, Major Barbara, as well as various cabarets at Don't Tell Mama and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Serena also has performed alongside James Taylor and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Serena loves working with people who particularly share her love of Musical Theater and Shakespeare, but she finds all ages and levels exciting and fulfilling.

Serena also specializes in coaching high school students for their auditions for BFA or BA Acting or Musical Theater programs. She is completely informed about the audition process for each individual school and is able to help select repertoire to fit your needs.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a very good balance in my lessons of nurturing the student, but also pushing the student to his or her highest potential. I always remain encouraging and supportive. I spend about a third of the lesson on technique work and I always encourage students to bring in their own material that we can work on as well. You will get excellent vocal and piano technique from me, but you will also learn to have fun and appreciate the ease and relaxation of singing and playing piano.

*** Studio Equipment ***
F/w keyboard, seating for parents - main room

*** Travel Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in musical theater singing, especially preparation for any auditions (singing or acting) for shows, college auditions, etc. Musical theater is my main passion, but I also focus a lot on pop music. I am especially experienced in introducing newbies to singing or piano.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A patient and skilled instructor I was so nervous about taking up piano again. My experience as a child had been less than stellar. Serena was exactly the instructor I had hoped for - she quickly assessed my ability and was able to adjust her teaching style/lesson accordingly. I was a bit nervous at first, but her patience helped me relax and enjoy the lesson. April 7, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Experience Serena worked with my daughter for a few critical months when she was working on her lead role for the school musical. My daughter enjoyed working with her. She has outstanding professionalism not only when working with my daughter but also working with me on her scheduling. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for online singing lessons. Rated 5 out of 5 by She is a great teacher! I took Serena's lessons via skype and I wasn't sure what it would be like at first, but I loved the experience. I didn't even have to leave my house for voice classes. I really liked her because she really does try to help you out and makes the experience relaxing and fun. She has been in plenty of musicals herself and has lots of experience. I would definitely recommend her!! May 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lessons! I had no singing experience or background at all and was very shy about trying it out, but Serena made the whole experience very enjoyable. She continually encouraged me and helped me feel more confident. I highly recommend her as a teacher if you are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in making the lesson fun and engaging. Also, props to for setting up such a practical, easy-to-use website. May 1, 2013
